This is why people are saying Jade Helm is a BAD idea, and the image of the military will be hurt worse (perhaps far worse) by the time it's over ...not improved or helped by this.
.......then again, giving the public more reasons to distrust and hate their own armed services may be precisely the point, by some thinking.
(sigh)...someone remind me? What pencil pushing Rambo thought this was a GOOD idea?!
You know, Blackwater or Xi or whatever they paint on their roadsign these days.....have one of the single most sophisticated urban traning centers in the world, in Virginia. They didn't make mock-ups of schools. They built a small town WITH schools, complete with lockers and P.A. systems and stink in the locker room, for all we know in their attention to detail. *THIS* is precisely WHY that was built ...so civilians can be civilians, military can be military and the two need not cross or overlap outside times of WAR.

Yeah.. Perhaps I do see what is happening here. 'we don't want people just coming to these things and sightseeing'. No kidding... It is far better (and honestly IS more important) for a power hungry leadership to train the peasants. We need to be trained to accept the sounds of gunfire, explosions or other signs of violence and death ..WITHOUT interrupting our work or other focus...as many in other parts of the world learn to do.
Someone seems to figure we need converted to the semi-war time mindsets people across the planet flood our immigration system trying to ESCAPE.

One other thing. We waste MILLIONS of prime acres to give Gi Joe PLENTY of space, in EVERY POSSIBLE biome, to train in EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE. From the Arctic, to the Jungle, or MOUT (Urban Warfare) sites of different complexity and variety.
If they feel the need to begin terrorizing the citizens with training we built them bases to use, at UNTHINKABLE national expense? Okay... Fine..then lets look at CLOSING some of those HUGE bases they seem to have outgrown! ! !
I suggest we start with the Nevada Test Site and the National Test Center. They both encompass measurable %'s of the STATE they reside in. One in Nevada and one in California ..and these are just two of MANY MANY such protected, locked down and maintained areas FOR MILITARY TRAINING.
There is no NEED for this to benefit the MILITARY ..only to condition and train US ...and that seems to be precisely what is being done.

Explosions you'd expect in a war zone echoed through Flint. People's homes shook and those inside were caught off-guard. It all went down at the shuttered Lowell Junior High on the city's east side.

Just after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the city sent out a release informing the public about the exercises. People say the explosions went off around two Tuesday afternoon, but why were residents given such short notice?
"Obviously, I can't speak for the army on that, but we try to give people a heads up when we can, we can't go into too much detail, we don't want people just coming to these things and sightseeing,"
