Have you ever heard the term transabled? I hadn't until now, but then, I suppose there are many forms of mental illness I'm not familiar with and this is certainly one of them.
Yes, indeed, I'm outright calling it profound mental illness, and humoring people like this to say otherwise is taking the 'just understand everyone' mentality to the level of extreme abuse of the ill by willfull neglect and denial of a problem.
I challenge anyone to read this and NOT come to the same conclusion for illness here. If you can read this and come out differently? I'm honestly interested in hearing that logic!
That is only the start of this story and the outright weirdness associated with it.
yeah, and a serial killer would likely see his fixation as merely an unhealthy dislike for other people. Rapists probably think of themselves as asserting thier rightful place in the world. Lots of illness can justify itself in lots of ways....but it doesn't make it right. It just makes me cast a serious questioning gaze back toward any "professionals" who would humor this.

I know a couple TG's in life that would go absolutely ballistic at being compared with this, on any level. I have no question, knowing their values fairly well. They've also worked very hard to establish medical basis and genetic reason for the TG condition, not a choice. This kinda works to undermine the core of their most serious argument about boy/girl being a chemical misfire at some early point.
This point is noted at the end of the article too, for how many aren't supporting this concept.
Transabled?? What is next? I can't wait.

OTTAWA — When he cut off his right arm with a “very sharp power tool,” a man who now calls himself One Hand Jason let everyone believe it was an accident.
But he had for months tried different means of cutting and crushing the limb that never quite felt like his own, training himself on first aid so he wouldn’t bleed to death, even practicing on animal parts sourced from a butcher.

People like Jason have been classified as ‘‘transabled’’ — feeling like imposters in their bodies, their arms and legs in full working order.
“We define transability as the desire or the need for a person identified as able-bodied by other people to transform his or her body to obtain a physical impairment,” says Alexandre Baril, a Quebec born academic who will present on “transability” at this week’s Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Ottawa.

The transabled are very secretive and often keep their desires to themselves, Baldwin says. One 78-year-old man told Baldwin he’d lived with the secret for 60 years and never told his wife.

“It’s a problem for individuals because it’s distressing. But lots of things are.” He suggests this is just another form of body diversity — like transgenderism — and amputation may help someone achieve similar goals as someone who, say, undergoes cosmetic surgery to look more like who they believe their ideal selves to be.
