We've been doing the "security" for everyone else in the world who doesn't want to handle their own problems for way too long already. I see no reason at all to get MY relatives killed fighting for a "freedom" the Iraqis may not want. If they want it, THEY will fight for it. If they are serious about being free, they will either erase their internal Jihadist problem, or die trying to. No reason I or MINE should die trying to do it. We've got our own problems to die trying to fix here at home.

Air support is fine. We don't have boys in the mud getting shot at by backwards, throwback jackasses that stepped out of a millennium and a half ago, thinking they're still in a world long gone.

The latest issue of Dabiq came out a couple days ago. Gomer's Boys say in it that they are going to sell Michelle Obama into sex slavery for a third of a dinar. That might light a fire under Barack's ass - that's what it's meant to do, anyhow - but if he's smart, it won't. He'll just tell them they've got it to do, and go ahead and jump whenever they feel froggy.

I'm goddamned tired of going into a place to "fix" it, and then getting thrown out, and THEN having the folks who threw us out come crawling back, begging us to "fix" them some more. Frakk 'em - let 'em fix their damned selves. We'll provide air support because, well, just because we don't like ISIS. That doesn't translate well to putting boots on the ground on THEIR turf to fight them - we ought to be shoring up OUR turf and waiting for them to give 'er a shot.

John Cantlie (I dunno why that sumbitch don't just change his name to "Chamberlain" - he's gone whole hog over to the enemy, kissin' up to them like they're brothers) also wrote a piece at the end of it where he's threatening the US with an ISIS nuke courtesy of Pakistan. Pipe dream. Bring it, bitches - see what happens. The last surviving member of ISIS, and maybe Islam altogether, will find themselves flat on their ass in the middle of a radioactive nuclear wasteland with their hair coming out in patches. Pakistan ain't got enough nukes to stop us even if they brought ALL of them. They only have enough to piss us off real good, and the whole damned world knows what happens if you piss us off real good - and nuking us with one puny little nuke would take that "pissed off" to a whole new level. You think 3000 deaths in 9/11 pissed us off? What about 50k or so in Houston?

The best chance ISIS has for simple survival is to sit down, shut up, and lick themselves until the ass kicking stops hurting. Otherwise, extinction is on the agenda for them.

No "boots on the ground" necessary.



Actually, when it comes to fighting, yes they are. ALL Middle Easterners are. That's why T.E. Lawrence had to go in and teach them how to fight - actually, had to teach them how to WIN. They've got "fighting" down pat, but have a problem area when it comes to winning that fight - especially against a non-Arab. They'll fight at the drop of a hat, for any reason or NO reason, but up against a serious opponent they find themselves holding the short end of the stick. They are best at scurrying away and hiding in crevices, like roaches.

Let Iran train them - they're having better luck. It may be a language or culture barrier thing. I'm good with the US limiting itself to dropping bombs from 30,000 feet.

The Muslims overran the known world... against other Arabs and the like. They even raided (but could not take) Rome, and took Spain... but when they ran up against some hard core Franks ("Ferengis" to the Arabs - shades of Star Trek!) under Karl Martel at Tours, they ran screaming like little girls. He routed about 70,000 of them as I recall with a 1500 man force.

Yeah. I think "inferior fighters" just about covers it.

Although I tend to agree with what you and Nin are saying, the issue isn't that we screwed the pooch and did everything wrong, backed the wrong regime, or created the problems to begin with. To late for shed a tear over this spilled milk.

The issue for me becomes letting it go now and allowing them to have the greatest source of income available in the modern world. That buys a lot of influence, weapons, and industry. These are the things will return later to bring to America what we don't want. Iran will end up running the show and we will find a nuke in a major city, or used as an EMP then it will have been to late. Let alone controlling the worlds energy supply.

I think if we and I will let the smart military people decide how take care of it now, the impact would be much less than waiting until later. But this is it, we lay waste to everything time for being nice is over, so the next group knows what the consequences are. It's seems for this uneducated old man on the ME it's pay me now or pay me later. Later means more lives and more money.

Of course this IMO without the experience some members have that far exceed my knowledge of the ME.

I don't think they would use it as a weapon unless it was on their own people. They could divert funds from the sale of oil from the benefit of their citizens which they don't seem to really care one way or the other and use that money to purchase weapons. I guess I just never want to have to look over my shoulder from a threat until later. Lets just get it over with now. IMO it would just cost less lives and treasure as they say today instead of tomorrow.
