Washington Post has a transcript of the resignation but of course, WP doesn't want to link properly. Of course, not a lot being said as to why Hagel is choosing to resign now. Just the usual "thank you" type stuff that one would expect.
Fox, of course, citing an unknown source, states that Obama had to fire someone and that someone was the only Republican in his cabinet. The Fox report, however, also makes comment on how both Gates and Panetta criticized Hagel's responses over the last couple years.
Interesting turn of events.

Were all those guns and dangerous things too much for the little lib to feel comfortable around? Maybe more time in the Senate..where they are carefully and completely insulated from nasty things ...like reality...would do the poor man good.
Of course..a rubber room in a rural care facility would do better, but we don't get all we want in life..eh? I'll settle for his resignation and be happy with this small gift.
By the way... Was chuckie's resignation coming almost ON TOP of the Ferguson G.J. announcing an outcome just...pure coincidence, or do we see more manipulation of media by careful timing of stories to overlap?
I'm kinda tired of people trying to play me like a violin. I'm a bass drum, and they shouldn't forget it!

@wrabbit2000,
According to news.google.com, the Ferguson Grand Jury has indeed come to a decision. The decision for that won't come out til later today. Right now, Hagel's resignation is the top story. I checked because I recollected seeing Ferguson on the news page and well, I have noted that pattern myself a few times. It's definitely there but diminished compared to Hagel's resignation.
