The fan that was giving me trouble before with the noise & vibration died on me tonight. I thought when I took the laptop apart & cleaned it, that it would be good to go, it spun just fine manually with ease at the time. Nope, it went toes up & within minutes, the laptop overheated & auto-shut down on me. Not good. So I immediately started on getting it disassembled again to double check the fan, thinking maybe the pin came unseated or something. Not the case, it seized up & simply will not turn at all, even if done by hand. Obviously, I need a new fan, which I'm hoping to order tonight, if possible.
What I'm having trouble with is finding a fan that goes with this model. I have an HP Pavilion 2000-2d70dx, and while I can find the fan here, it seems to be a bit steep. I'll pay it in the end if I must, but I'm hoping to find one for a little less. Problem is, I can't seem to find it anywhere, unless it's a generic fan for many types & I'm just missing the obvious. This one is identical from what I can tell, though the pin appears to be wrong (I need a 4 pin, this might be a 3)
Granted, I'm tired & extremely fed up, I'm hoping I'm just missing the obvious here and overlooked a vendor somewhere.
And before anyone yells "Thermal paste!!" yes, I need to get a tube of it. The fan is part of the CPU heat sink, thus the thermal paste on the CPU was disturbed when I removed it.

AHA! Found the tiny little sticker that must have fallen off on the floor, with the part information, and googled the part number. It's this, and someone on Ebay happens to have some. I may snag that, not a bad price for it.

The fan & thermal paste have been ordered, I expect them next week. I'm limited to my very old netbook in the meantime, which loads pages at a snail's pace, and has lovely humidity damage on the LCD screen (thanks, FL) I feel like I'm looking through a transparent leopard
