Starting at a young age, L excelled in academics. He went to a large school which offered many different sports and activities as well. L was a laid back kid. Their were cliques at his school which consisted of jocks, goths, nerds, and many more. L was friends with members of all of these groups. He was a kid who was liked by everyone. He played football and baseball, and was able to play shortstop on a team with 2 current MLB players.
Time went by and L grew older. September 11 occured and L's father who was a fire chief at the time was sent to NYC to help with search efforts. His father came back 2 weeks later a changed man. It was visible scars he wore from this experience. L decided to become a Marine and help save people to prevent another atrocity like this from happening.
L became part of the 2nd Div 2nd Recon bn. He did his time overseas and came home. L left the military and started odd jobs here and there while trying to cope. He had come home a different person. This calm well mannered easy going kid had become a tormented soul.
He was able to meet a wonderful woman who he became very close with. L began struggling with alcohol while trying to cope with self purpose. No matter what L did, he couldn't shake the angry man inside of him. In January some years ago, L had been drinking heavily. He kept thinking of things he had experienced, and how nobody seems to understand him. He did not like the angry man he had become. L grabbed his .40 caliber M&P, chambered a round and placed it to his temple. He prayed that god forgive him, and that god grant him a second chance to be someone different. He wanted to be at peace. L pressed the barrel against his temple, closed his eyes, then squeezed the trigger. The gun did not go off. L fell to the floor crying like a baby. His girlfriend found him and figured out what happened.
L decided to leave his firearms with his father and attempt treatment for alcohol. L did an outpatient stint at Duke University. Things seemed to mellow a bit but every so often the angry man would appear. He would show up and challenge L. L continued to fight an uphill battle with him.
Time went by and L entered the police academy. He graduated and began work. He did not like the policing work, and started fire and ems. L obtained his paramedic and FF 1 and 2. L began work immediately. He became very good at his job. He found self purpose once again being able to save someones life. L became married and had a little boy. His little boy is his life. A spitting image of his father. It seemed L had finally beaten the angry man.
L had become a stand up person now. He was battling the angry man by helping others. He threw the alcohol away and became what he thought was a wonderful husband and father. He had support from people he knew locally and online. He had turned the dark corner of inner turmoil and found light. L was thriving.
L was approached last night by a friend. His friend said for him to give him a call. L's friend informed him that he saw L's wife out with another guy at this moment at a cinema. L thought this is impossible, his wife is at a training class for work right now. L tried calling his wife and texting her to no avail. L decided to drop his son off with his sister to meethis friend at the cinema. L arrived at the cinema and was led by his friend to a restaurant beside of it. As he entered he saw his wife and this other man holding hands. L retreated outside as his wife followed. She just kept crying and apologizing, but L wanted no part of it. He could feel the angry man winning, and he wanted to get away. L was fixing to leave and he couldn't take it any longer. L approached his wife's ex boyfriend's car and pulled him out of the drivers seat. L began striking the man until his friend and two bystandards pulled him away. L threw his wedding ring at his wife and left.
L had been doing great. The angry man had become a past nuisance that he was no longer bothered by. Now he showed his dark face again. All L can do now is sit and wait. He has his son with him whom he loves more than life. His wife is staying with a friend for now, but L is now in a new battle with the angry man.
Does this angry man ever go away? He sits quietly in his room asking himself.
