The accused Baltimore police are both guilty and innocent.
Right now they are in a box. They exist in 2 states; guilty and innocent.
Until the facts are observed, they will continue in both states.
The problem comes from the observation of the facts. Most cannot observe facts neutrally. We all wear filters in which we interpret our observations. These filters are social, racial, economic.
Our educational system distorts our ability to observe. Our upbringing distorts our ability to observe.
The guilty may appear innocent, the innocent appear guilty based on the distortion of our filters in which we look through.
television, mass media, tells us what we should be observing.
Op-ed pieces like this one might tell you what you should be observing.
These factors add to the filters and create even more distortion.
In fact, we've gone so far that we aren't even making observations through our filters of the facts, we are making determinations based on others observations and interpretations of the facts.
Schrödinger would be highly irritated if people just sat back and said, "You look in the box. I'll just write down what you see."
Something to keep in mind in the days and weeks ahead.
Well this weekend should prove interesting as the demonstrations have been rebranded as a "Victory Demonstration" led by no other than, Malik Zulu Shabazz, the leader of the New Black Panther Party. I wouldn't bet on that to be peaceful.
