Having a good day?
Feeling optimistic about the future?
Finally accept that you may actually survive to see another few years?
Never fear! The Bunny is here, and I bring news with me! (You don't have to ask, good or bad...it's news, in the modern times, and that says it all...doesn't it?
AHEM...(Cough..cough..cough) yeah, I should say that reducing the chance of thermonuclear war by pure friggen "OOPSY!?" would be a priority we can all get behind seeing action with! (Doh! ...when Former Marines have to actually explain this stuff, its fair to ask......WHO is minding the store these days??)
Hot Damn! Thats the ticket!! 24-72 hours just to ready the missiles to lau......hey....Wait a minute....that means we may as well not even HAVE them for the timelines during a nuclear exchange. The war is OVER within 72 hours ..and MUCH SOONER if one side is gimped for even firing back.
Just whose side is this jarhead on anyway?!

I may be an old fashioned kinda bunny, but I have an old old saying I live by. Gun control is a simple concept, and easy to follow. It makes sense, too. If guns are around, I'll damn sure be IN CONTROL of at least one of them!
Likewise, this is crazy talk about literally ASKING for an upstart nuke power to slap us silly some day, because we couldn't trust OURSELVES more than those who would acquire nukes for the express purpose of short term plans to use them.
it's fine and dandy that Russia pinky swears to do it with us...but that was a hard sell to buy even when Ronnie Ray-Gun was selling the package. We at least BELIEVED he would do everything humanly possible to keep that verify part of 'trust but verify' in their face and up their tailpipes, all the way to the end.
I trust Obama will say everything we want to hear, while actually doing half or less or it, and likely nothing that really NEEDED done in a major way to start with.
Sorry.....I'm not eager to hand 'our gun' over before walking into a room of unstable gang-bangers. It's called suicide by other means.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Taking U.S. and Russian missiles off high alert could keep a possible cyberattack from starting a nuclear war, a former commander of U.S. nuclear forces says, but neither country appears willing to increase the lead-time to prepare the weapons for launch.
Retired Gen. James Cartwright said in an interview that "de-alerting" nuclear arsenals could foil hackers by reducing the chance of firing a weapon in response to a false warning of attack.

An example of the high alert level of U.S. nuclear weapons is the land-based nuclear force. These are the 450 Minuteman 3 missiles that are kept ready, 24/7, to launch from underground silos within minutes after receiving a presidential order.
A study led by Cartwright proposes to adjust the missile command and control system so that it would take 24 hours to 72 hours to get the missiles ready for launch.

The report calls for a phased approach to taking U.S. and Russian missiles off high alert, with 20 percent of them off launch-ready alert within one year and 100 percent within 10 years, under a legal or political agreement.
