I think I may have to change my thinking a bit on this. Not a lot, because there are serious people mixed in with the hateful little misfits....and the serious people would have the intelligence to go, learn and come back. Those, I worry about.
Six people have been arrested in connection with a terrorism investigation into youths who have traveled or tried to travel to Syria to fight with militants, including the Islamic State group, authorities in Minnesota said Sunday.
Too many of these are really sounding like social misfits though, and perhaps just dangerous to say......we ought to stop preventing them from leaving?
Four Minnesotans have already been charged in connection with supporting terror groups in Syria, including the Islamic State group.
One man, 19-year-old Hamza Ahmed, had been stopped at a New York City airport in November as he and three others were attempting to travel to Syria. Ahmed has been indicted on charges of lying to the FBI during a terrorism investigation, conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State group, and attempting to provide material support. He has pleaded not guilty.
Seriously, if people are so far gone down the road of hating this nation, they would want to join ISIS? Why do we want to put effort into keeping them here? If they are dumb enough to get caught just travelling there? We're better off with supplying the transport ourselves, I'm thinking. DHS is flying illegals IN from Central America...so why not fly anti-American morons OUT?
How long would these American marshmallows actually last in a real, and very brutal battlefield like ISIS fights across? Not long for most, I'm thinking. We could call it a self cleaning oven, and wish them well.

There is a real pipeline from here (Minnesota) to terrorist groups -- a bunch of them have gone to Somalia over the years to fight with Al-Shabab, now they're heading to Syria and Libya, too.
I agree with you, let 'em go, but the real question is who, locally, is radicalizing these kids? They need to track that guy down and put him in prison, because if they keep preventing those radicalized from leaving the country, it's only a matter of time before they pull one of those mall or university attacks here.

I don't even understand how it CAN be happening like this? American raised kids, turned to go play Jihadi killer ...among people who absolutely HATE everything American? That must be full of awkward moments, even after they become accepted. Still HOW??
I recall reading about the Soviet defectors during the years there was a Soviet Union. After they'd debriefed them in the D.C. area, and decided they were keepers, they'd take them on a driving tour of D.C., Chevy Chase, Alexandria and the other lesser sights around the area. (Sights you ask?? What sights in Chevy Chase??) What I'll never forget is how the defectors invariably were unimpressed by the monuments, and the big stuff we like to see. It was the neighborhoods (outside the D.C. Ghetto) and things like a regular American supermarket...with 10 varietys of every product, and seasons are almost meaningless for any food you may want.
They'd have trouble getting them to believe it was real, and not a Potemkin village mock-up, but that was how we ALL really lived. Apparently, a multi-department supermarket wasn't a common sight in the old Soviet world.
ANYWAY.....ISIS-Land is at least as different from us, as the Soviet Union was in the bad old days. No one but a coward or spy running hard actually defected TO the Soviets, and damn few of them.
What, in the name of any quality to life, do Americans see in ISIS-Land? Is it the Murder for Free aspect?? Are we THAT depraved?

Oddly, I was thinking almost exactly the same thing when I read a story about this this morning. Why keep 'em here? Furthermore, the government is initiating programs to "fix" whatever "problems" are causing them to leave, and CAIR has stepped up and protested that effort, saying that it might "violate the First Amendment". Meh. let 'em go - THEY want to go, CAIR wants them to go, and we don't need them here, so sayonara, suckers! take CAIR with you, and don't none of y'all let the door slam on yer asses on the way out. Get 'em all in one place, talk 'em into standing in a big circular area, and lower the BOOM! on the center of it. Problem solved for all concerned.

Not long at all is my guess. One of this very bunch got to meet Allah last November in Sand Land.
ETA: Somalis are a dime a dozen anyhow. If we rented them to ISIS by the pound, we'd go broke. I had to deal with a couple of them right after 9/11 in NC, when they were all excited that the jihad against America had begun. Bite me. You dislike us, go the hell home. Ain't no one stopping you - I'll even box you up.

I have to disagree on the imprisonment. I've got to take a "take no prisoners" attitude here. Prisons are probably the number one radicalization venues in the US. If not number one, they are at the very least running a close second. Prison is the LAST place you want to put an islamic radicalizer - it just gives him a fertile field to work in.
Send 'em packing or put 'em in the ground. I don't care which, as long as they aren't troubling us any more.
American raised kids, turned to go play Jihadi killer
There is a large Somali community in the Twin Cities, that's where these kids are coming from, they're not "American raised kids," at least not in the sense of previous generations of immigrants.
Another fruit of multiculturalism, this.

The government has "secretly" been importing Somolians into Minnesota and Wisconsin for years! Yet now they act surprised? GTFOOH!

All part of the plan!
Well, that's kinda paranoid, but it's not beyond the realm of possibilities. I'm not sure about here, but the small city that I used to live in, in North Dakota, we used to bring them in as part of a church, not government, movement.

How is what I said paranoid?
That's the beauty of the interweb created by Al Gore! It's all there for anyone to look up?
Hell! If I am making it up I am publicly coming out and saying you can call me liar if I am wrong!

The implication that they have been doing it secretly, in favour of some sort of agenda.
No, it's been pretty open around here, and driven by both the government and by religious groups. As someone who's been a passive participant, no, I don't think that there is anything nefarious going on, we're just seeing the results of multiculturalism, the belief that it's more important to hold onto Somalian culture than it is to embrace American culture. Somalian culture can be radical Islam, American culture would not be.

I can accept that answer!
However, it does not by any means explain why it hasn't been something brought up by the MSM?
One reason I don't trust Scott Walker! I remember when an article came out about an plant that the Somalian's used to get high in Wisconson, and because it wasn't a drug familiar with the US government they were at a loss as to what to do about it! So in other words, we have to be sensitive to their culture, but arrest Americans for doing pretty much the same thing?
Paint it how you choose. I will paint it how I see it as well.

Khat? Yeah, we heard about that, it didn't seem to be a big deal.
To be honest, some of this sounds like anti-immigration, which I'm against, and anti-multiculturalism, which I'm in favour of. I'm complicated, lol
Bring 'em in, but if they don't want to adapt, show 'em the door. That's how I roll.
