As far as I can see, it's easy enough to do, just by setting up a new identity on the Proboards system.
In the bottom right hand corner of my screen, I see a "switch account" icon, which offers me options like "view this forum as a guest" or "create a new account on this forum".
Sorry, I was seriously distracted. It's currently set so that "Guests" (visitors) can't post. I'm reluctant to change that.
If you want to create an alter ego here, you can do it, but I'll have to make some changes, and it still will be connected to you.
WAIT A MINUTE! I can create a new member called anonymous, then PM everybody with the password. I suspect that will only allow one member to post anonymously at a time, but if there's a real demand for it, I suppose I could set up an "anonymous2" That way, anybody could post truly anonymously.
It kind of goes against the spirit of Hernando's, but if there's a demand for it, it could be tried. Of course, "Anonymous'" posts would be watched carefully.
So is there a real demand for it, beyond posting "I Love Obama" threads?
I personally don't like the idea, for my two cents.
I saw how that worked out at TOS by reading archives with a lot of the posting on the Anonymous account used there for a period of time. It seemed to be a place that decent folks could play troll far more than anything else. At least that was my take, and maybe that jaded me, but I can't see the productive use after seeing that direction of abuse?

@wrabbit2000,
I think you're right. That "Productive use" issue has me a little concerned. Everyone is supposed to be welcomed and respected here (That's why I mentioned "The Spirit of Hernando's"). Someone choosing to post anonymously seems to be saying, "I don't think my post will be respected."
If that's the case, it's either a very strange post, or the poster thinks he will be attacked by someone. In that case, come to me hippity-hop. (Sorry, Wrabbit, couldn't resist.)
Well, I could see someone thinking that if we (the readers out here) don't know their screen name, that they really are anonymous or something. That's so silly from one perspective of all this...but sometimes I have to remind myself that many have never seen the back end of a simple site, let alone servers and control panels and everything else.
Perhaps the productive use side is born in misunderstanding for what Anonymous means and...really..doesn't mean at all?
I remember, while perusing in TOS' archives for different reasons, coming across many Anonymous posts. At first, it looked as if some anonymous posters seemed like they were "in" as some of those posts looked like various "insiders information" posts. Some other anonymous posts had me go "Reaaaaaaally?"....and without links or sources to verify the various claims, I realized that it was pretty useless to count them in as serious claims, unless someone enjoys believing in different things just for the face value of it.
Seriously think about filing a complaint against her for harassing communications. You have no idea how many texts and emails I receive . That and she refuses to let me see my kids.
Would an Anonymous post be used for ... rabble-rousing, flame-baiting ... or let's see perhaps be a little more politic Gryph ... discussion instigation, passion enhancement ...
I'm not sure why any of us would not want the rest of us to know "who" we are, in at least as far as our screen-names go ...
Seems to fly seriously in the face of the Hernando's Philosophy to me; your mileage may vary.
