Everything that I will be adding here will be from things that I have researched, but also my own personal views, and experiences. Thanks in advance for reading.
The following will clearly and without prejudice discuss both sides, or maybe even all sides of race on this planet. Many examples will be heartbreaking, and some will upset, and make you uncomfortable, and that is the point of the following.
First and foremost THERE IS NO RACE. This maybe in another dimension, or on another planet, but race is nonexistent. Those who speak of race, or are obsessed with race is for an entirely difference reason and one that will be discussed later.
Race, whether you are describing the color of ones skin, their facial or body features, or place of origin, is nothing else but something that in the past was a "calling card" on where you may be from, and back then was quite important. There is no particular "group" of people on this planet that at sometime have not been mistreated, slavery for blacks, whites in the U.S during the mass exodus of the mid west after the dust bowl, chinese in the internment camps, and so on, of course I forgot lots of other things, but thats not the point.
Take for example the conspiracy community, we all can agree there is something terribly wrong with the way that the world works. Now think how we would treat each other if we knew what each of us looked like, our sex, or the color of our skin. If you are reading this in private as I am sure most are your first thought was more than likely picturing an array of different scenarios, and how you might feel, and even more than that, you didnt like how you just felt about it. Not because you have never felt it before, but you had to think of it this way.
This doesnt mean that there is something wrong with you, or that you are sexist or a racist, as of course I even have my own thoughts, but if you can admit even to yourself that you have an inkling of hate or division for someone you have never met based on that criteria, then maybe it can help for you to see that this is a man made concept that has had us hating each other for far to long.
If we can say that the holocaust should never be forgotten, then I think its safe to say that neither should slavery, as at least 5-10 times over the amount were killed. You have to wonder about all of the other places that have had genocide on a scale that if we stopped procreating there is a chance that there would be a handful of people left today. Though we know this as fact, we still tend to want to choose who we care for, who should get over it, and who says when we should get over all genocide on the planet.
There is nothing wrong with healing, getting through the hard times as a nation and society, but there is something wrong with people telling you when you should forgive. Not to long ago a friend and I were discussing a woman who's child had died, and she was on television. She wasnt crying, wailing and carrying on, and though she was a suspect for a day or 2 and then released, because she didnt show the amount of remorse my friend thought she should, my friend then cleary stated, that she must be guilty, no mother would EVER be able to do an interview like that without weeping uncontrollably.
Do we seriously think that we can prove, or dictate to another person, especially one we do not personally know when they should get over it, or their remorse level is not high enough, the ego in all its glory is sometimes a very wicked even sometimes overbearing thing, and it causes division on a scale that we hate, judge and speak when we have no real right to. We are quicker to excuse a murderer than someone of a race that has very high stereotype levels.
I have been a writer and lover of research and everyone in this community, and I have had my feelings hurt by some things that I have seen written or said, and its not because someone did it, but because they didnt try to figure out why they felt that way in the first place. When people on TOS started to realize that I was a woman and openly stating so, things began to change for me, but only a handful of those people knew a bit more, and did not judge me, they knew I grew up in the projects. They knew that I didnt graduate high school and learned because I love it, knew that I too was on welfare when times were tough, and until they go to know me, they learned to appreciate me and I them.
I am not ashamed of my upbringing, and ONLY bring it up now to remind you that I was a stereotype the way thats its described in countless threads and articles, I am that person from that screwed up place, with no future, no education, no wealth, no money.
If even once you thought of me in high regard, or enjoyed my thoughts, or my writing, or even my conversation, then you my friend have met someone who is different then what you thought, there are many like me out there, but afraid to speak their past out of fear of ridicule, there are people that you meet in this world that have a story, there are even stories you write about that have stories.
If we cant connect on race, money, education, or anything else that people think they need to have more than others, the one thing that CAN connect us, and you would never leave your boundaries is experience. You can listen, read, or share, and even if its in another country you have never been in, you can experience mentally what they are going through.
Our fears, and joy, love and hate, family and friends, are all things we have in common, no one wakes up in a shitty world and things wow, its what I always dreamed of. We need to be fair, listen, be nonjudgmental, at least to the point that you have a better understanding to the other side of view, and mostly, if you ever feel the need to judge. Do so by being thankful that it didnt happen to you.
