“Gentlemen, well…this mission has been a walk in the park…”
Mission Control - Hicks: “Copy that, Arkan…”
“Whoa…”
Mission Control - Hicks: “Repeat?”
…
Mission Control - Hicks: “Arkansas, please repeat..”
“We are exp….ing some so… of el………....ic ……..maly….”
Mission Control - Baker: “Arkansas, you’re breaking up, Team Alpha Six, please repeat..”
…
Mission Control - Baker: “Team Alpha Six, please respond..”

Sgt. Hicks looked at the screen in front of him as the live transponder data was changing and not in a good way, right in front of his eyes…He briefly glanced at Baker before looking back at the alert comm status that was now flashing red on his monitor…He hesitantly picked up the white cellular phone, laying on his desk; a direct link to General Ramsay.
“Oh shit…” he said out loud as he touched the screen for a direct call…
> …
> “It’s the Twin, Sir. We have a problem.”
> …
> “The live feeds have all gone offline, Sir”
> …
> “No Sir, that's the thing, the cores report no malfunctions. It’s just offline…”
> …
> “No Sir, it’s offline for BOTH the Twin and the Team…”
> …
> “No Sir ! They’re just…gone…”
> …
> ...
> …
> …
> “Yes Sir.”
Hicks put the phone down and switched his comm to that dreaded Alert Status, code Red. The built-in wall speakers emitted a fast paced high pitched alert code and then a voice came on…
“This is General Ramsay. We’ve initiated a Recovery Protocol for both the Twin and the Crew. Their last known recorded emitted signal puts them directly out of China, in the Kongka La Area, located in the Himalayas. Team Alpha Two and Team Alpha Five are on their way there now.”
“Mission Control, keep your eyes open, gentlemen. Team Alpha Three will soon join you on premises to coordinate the recovery. Find me that prototype before the Chinese do. Ramsay out.”
Hicks turned to Baker, who was intensely busy monitoring for any pings or additional data that the Twin might transmit but since it all flat lined, all he had for entertainment was…silence. He turned back and looked at Hicks.
“You do know that what is happening right now is technologically impossible, right?”
Hicks knew. The Twin was a brilliantly designed military pack of duos, twin propellers, dual computer cores – the other being located in Mission Control and simultaneously relaying the data on the main screen, dual backups – which now were also both offline. Even if someone knew how and turned everything off, the outside virtual field would still transfer pings. But not this time.
“Keep your eyes and ears open, Lance. I’m gonna get us coffee…we’re gonna be here a while…”
Hicks got up and had one last look at the screen in front of him…
“WTF…” he thought to himself as he exited the control room.
