Apparently, and according to the press conference (I caught the end of the Fox live stream of it), they arrested Jeffery Williams last night around 10:30pm, and he is the suspect for the shootings of two police officers (not Ferguson cops, by the way) in the protest lines the other night. When asked by a reporter, the police official indicated Williams as an African American.
In another story and related in an unmistakable way, of course, I came across this as well...
UPLANDS PARK, Mo. (KTVI) — There has been sharp criticism of an Uplands Park city worker who said live on FOX News that the shooting of the two officers was a “set up” by police.
John Muhammad identified himself as city manager of the tiny north county village of Uplands Park during a live interview Thursday night on FOX News channel.
Muhammad whose been involved in the protests, is now feeling the backlash. Uplands Park is taking swift action.
That would have warranted a thread of its own, IMO, if they hadn't just announced the name of the suspect in custody for what I'd imagine will be attempted Capital murder.

A 20-year-old man from the St. Louis area has been arrested in connection with the shooting of two police officers during last week's protests in Ferguson, Missouri, a prosecutor said Sunday.
Jeffrey Williams was arrested late Saturday, and he has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, a count of firing a weapon from a vehicle and three counts of armed criminal activity, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch said at a news conference in Clayton.
Assault? ASSAULT?! Yes..this is the same prosecutor who ran the original Grand Jury. At least the man is consistent. He seems to mishandle all he touches, and perhaps isn't biased after all. He may just be incompetent on general grounds.
I'm still wondering about the caliber of the weapon and the make of it as well. A 125 yard shot with a pistol caliber (even through a rifle) requires some skill. I just can't see a Hi-Point 9mm or .45ACP doing this at such a distance. Even in the hands of an experienced shooter.
Especially with witnesses stating that some of the shots were suppressed. By press accounts, there were between four and five shots, yet two of those shots found their target over a distance that is beyond a pistol caliber to be accurately aimed.
Things that make you say...Hmmmmm 7/39
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
And what is his background? Did he have any professional training? And above all, what type a weapon was it? I would bet to guess that it will be put out that it was one of those AR-type of pistols.
He also said that, because of the public's assistance in the case, police were able to serve a search warrant on Williams' residence where they seized a .40-caliber handgun, "which has been tied to the shell casings that were recovered" at the scene of the shooting.
A little while ago, we saw an update when we were at the tuck stop
Supposedly, the shooter claims it was in "self defense" when he got into a fight with a protester (yeah right)
What the talkin heads were saying, was that he might have lawyer-ed up (yea, black dude) and figured that was his cover story that they came up with
Think they had it on MSNBC, not sure
Anyhow, they claim that there is more than that one video that is being shown on TV That the police dept. had added several surveillance cameras near the station, so they should be able to piece together what really went down
Also were surprised he still had the gun (not ditched it) and will be seeing if it is connected to any other crimes
Both lawyers on there did say that it was a far fetched story, but it also depends on what the prosecutors decide to charge him with
Assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder charges
Would anyone care to predict another violent protest if the trial doesn't go in favor of the defendant? Surely the blacks can see that he was in the wrong this time, surely
(MB was in the wrong and the 'hands up' crap turned out to be a lie)
CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A 20-year-old man charged Sunday with shooting two police officers watching over a demonstration outside the Ferguson Police Department had attended a protest there earlier that night but told investigators he wasn't targeting the officers, authorities said.
St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch said suspect JeffreyWilliams told authorities he was firing at someone with whom he was in a dispute.
"We're not sure we completely buy that part of it," McCulloch said, adding that there might have been other people in a vehicle Williams is accused of firing from.
Williams, who is being held on $300,000 cash bond, had a warrant out on him because he is on probation for receiving stolen property and has failed to appear to his parole officer for the past seven months, McCulloch said.
Tips from the public were key in leading police to Williams, and McCulloch urged anyone with information to contact local law enforcement with further information.
If he's on probation, he's not even supposed to have a gun

Oh, now think positive. I am sure this was an upstanding citizen who had a permit and normal background check to buy it, with it properly registered and all his safety training up to date.
Poor guy just ended up in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Coulda happened to anyone. Yup Yup...
(hides growing nose...) Really! Just ask the locals. I am sure they'll tell ya all about the virtues of this shoot...err....innocent guy.
And what is his background? Did he have any professional training? And above all, what type a weapon was it? I would bet to guess that it will be put out that it was one of those AR-type of pistols.
That way that idiot in the WH gets what he wants.
Well doug, being as he was already on probation for stolen property and there was a warrant out for him on that because he had neglected to report for the last seven months to his probation officer, we can assume he's a 'professional' when it comes to law breaking
And the weapon he claimed to have used was a .40 caliber handgun and the authorities have recovered it as well
So between possession/firing of a gun while on probation plus failing to report to the probation officer, that right there will get him a little time
The 'talking heads' were wondering if he would go for a plea bargain or not
Being as this was a crime by a black person, Obama will remain mum on this He only speaks out when it's a white person on black thug issue
@snarky412, Yea, I get all that. But what makes my ears prick up is that in earlier reports, the shots were made from 125 yards. That would require one hell of a shooter with a .40cal.
I'm pretty much dead nuts on with a .45ACP at 50 yards as long as it's a paper target which isn't moving and in broad daylight. But a .40cal, in low light with moving targets and only 4-5 shots fired, yet two cops are hit?
As with all the 'misinformation' with MB that turned out false, some of the earlier reporting here may not be 100% accurate (no, say it ain't so...LOL)
Now they are saying he was in a vehicle at the time of the shooting... fc/dunno
And you know best on weapons, so I trust your call on that
