Oh, you silly silly Americans. You believed the media to think something untoward happened with two secret service agents and a drunk driving issue?
Silly silly citizens. No such thing ever happened, and it was all overblown and made up by those evil leakers and dumb reporters anxious to believe them. The S.S. says so. Therefore, it must be the God's honest truth of the matter. After all, leakers always lie..and official stories days later, always tell the REAL truth, huh?
Aww..now see? They didn't actually DO any of those nasty things that others alleged but no one will now confirm.
Oh, and they are referred to now as just 'agents'. All mention of the fact the Second in Command to Obama's personal protection detail was one of the agents involved seems removed and glossed over.
Now SOMETHING had to have happened.....or do we assume they transfer critical personnel now without cause and just on whims?

It sounds to me like business as (we've come to understand) usual at Secret Service....and a rather sloppy cover up attempt this time. They can't even handle a wash job with any particular skill or finesse anymore. This is as sad to watch for that reason, as the actual decline within the Service itself. Of course, the guy whose life will be most directly impacted for living or dying is the man seemingly most interested in making excuses for the agents in question.
So....I guess Obama makes his own bed, very very literally in this case...and the outcome, good or bad, will be one he owns 100% as a personal thing. After all, as Commander and Chief as well as the most powerful man in this nation (by assumption of power, if not by statute) he has ABSOLUTE control over things like his personal security detail. Whatever the regs 'say' it should be, bet on the fact he controls it very directly......and he really is showing how inept he is with the handling of things like this.
Even his own safety and life....comes second to political concerns and image. I'd say more...but there are laws about some aspects of this topic, even as a joke.

According to the sources, the agents did not actually interfere with the suspicious package investigation and reports that a senior supervisor overruled officers who wanted to conduct a sobriety test may not be true.
The latest information from the two sources pushes back against the narrative Secret Service officials presented to the Washington Post in a story published Wednesday.

"There is a sense now that that might not be true," one of the sources said.
The officials also contradicted previous reports that the two agents in question drove through police tape and into the area that was part of a suspicious package investigation. Instead, the agents only drove to the edge of the scene.

An agency official said the two employees had been moved to “non-supervisory, non-operational assignments.” They were not put on administrative leave, which has been a typical procedure when agents are under investigation for alleged misconduct.
