Remember all that talk of socialized medicine and Government takeovers? Recall all the debates centered around the seemingly reasonable idea that medical insurance companies would not fare well under Obamacare, and so, at least there was THAT to consider with all the bad? I do. I recall it vividly and clearly. Oh my yes... We thought Obama a socialist.
Oh we of little wisdom....and he laughed. He actually laughed. Recall that? Jokes of socialist mops which just angered people, and that in turn distracted them more.
Well, The New York Times has apparently decided to run for the "too little, far too late' award in critical coverage of the nightmare we know as the PPACA. However, it IS better to be late than never show up at all.
Unreliable partner indeed!

Even the true blue democrats who probably pray for Bush's ruination every night before sleep...didn't vote or ask or want THIS garbage. We didn't get a Government takeover. We got a classic progressive super-shot to the private sector. The very specific part and sub-section of the private sector they chose, and under such regulation as to make the distinction between public and private difficult to make out sometimes, at best. Still...separate enough to have left US with what amounts to insurance companies writing their own ticket, under the cover of Government programs to shelter them from direct accountability.
Oh ...I want a refund on this hope and change stuff.

WASHINGTON — As Americans shop in the health insurance marketplace for a second year, President Obama is depending more than ever on the insurance companies that five years ago he accused of padding profits and canceling coverage for the sick.
Those same insurers have long viewed government as an unreliable business partner that imposed taxes, fees and countless regulations and had the power to cut payment rates and cap profit margins.

Since Mr. Obama signed the law, share prices for four of the major insurance companies — Aetna, Cigna, Humana and UnitedHealth — have more than doubled, while the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index has increased about 70 percent.
“These companies all look at government programs as growth markets,” said Michael J. Tuffin, a former executive vice president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, the main lobby for the industry. “There will be nearly $2 trillion of subsidized coverage through insurance exchanges and Medicaid over the next 10 years. These are pragmatic companies. They will follow the customer.”
