As Russia will have its own Space Station in 2020...
The latest development follows an announcement by the country’s deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin earlier this year that Russia would not use the ISS after 2020, Sputnik reported, citing the Kommersant report, which cited a source close to the Central Research Institute of Machine Building, which is administrated by the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos).
As the Americans are using Russian rockets to send men, women and supplies to the ISS, as those same rockets are used to send satellites, maybe it's just me but it now seems that the American Administration is going to have a deadline to deal with, and hopefully, change things around when it comes to Space economics.
Anyone here that knows me a little, understand by now, that I disagree with the cuts NASA and other Space exploration ventures have endured, while money is dissipated in warfare.
Our future, as humans, is in space, not in territorial wars.
Plus, it's just another sign that the Great Divide is getting deeper. It looks as if we are going back in time and not forward. As we are sanctioning Russia, forgetting that it's a two way coin, we also seem to forget that division has a price.
How I wish at times, and especially when it comes to space ventures, that our Leaders would acknowledge that we are ONE species.
Wishful thinking. I'm curious...What are your thoughts on this?
I suppose it depends on whether or not they can just mothball the thing and go back to it when they are ready. As I understand it, NASA has no intent of building or launching anything but unmanned craft, putting that off on Virgin Galactic or other private companies, so once 2020 comes around, the Russians button the thing up and bring back the crew, and that's gonna be it, barring private industry.
Kind of sucks, but it's the logical progression that started with the ending of the Apollo missions. It's expensive to put humans into space, and people aren't super keen on continuing to foot the bill.

Private companies seem to be the way it will go, I didn't think of that and I agree.
It kind of ticks me off though that the population feels like we should not spend on space ventures, as if they'd have a say on it anyway, and no one protests against the billions (or dare I say trillions? Yes. Trillions.) of dollars spent on dark ventures and warfare, for which there is no say.
The United States was floating the ideas and timing to deorbit and destroy the International Space Station as recently as last year. So, the idea of willfully destroying it with a happy announcement of "Mission Accomplished" is already in the thinking, it seems.
Russia may just give these space fearing idiots in Washington the political cover to say 'Well... Sorry America, we can't get there anyway...no need spending money on it anymore!'.
Just like Skylab, but FAR MORE lost this time, we'll burn our own futures in a fiery show across the skies.
These firework shows are a wee TOO expensive for my taste.
