So saying something about the gay is grounds for dismissal in an election?
It's not saying something on the issue of homosexuality, it's what he said, which is ludicrous, combined with the fact that he didn't have the good sense to keep such a divisive opinion to himself.
The only reason that I didn't vote for John McCain in 2008 was his choice of running mate -- I was behind him all the way, but once I realized what a complete imbecile Sarah Palin was, it made me seriously re-consider McCain's good judgement in putting such an unqualified person one heartbeat from the Presidency.
Let's face it, we don't choose candidates based on issues where there is general agreement, we choose on the issues or characteristics where they stand out from others, and for me, some guy saying that "prison makes you gay" is so telling of him that I know there's no way I want him being President, even if he does agree with me on all the other stuff that I agree on with the other candidates.

The way I see it is, Dr. Carson posited a theory. One which actually may have some credence. But to prove it would take years of study, interviews with current and former inmates across the US, if not world and tens of millions of dollars to fund it.
Wait! Millions of dollars? I'll do the study! Give me the grant!
So saying something about the gay is grounds for dismissal in an election?
Well, two topics that candidates need to stay clear of unless absolutely necessary, is Religion and Sexuality
Those 2 are mine fields and although not as bad as an extramarital affair, it is not good for one to willingly discuss IMO when running for political office unless they are prepared for a media backlash if what is said is not kosher
And unfortunately what Carson said is well, not kosher and now the MSM is going to twist it and turn every which way they can until there is nothing left to twist
Also, kinda tacky to use prisoners for his reasoning, when many of them are beaten, raped and made someones 'bitch'....not a good example to use IMO
Before this election cycle is over, every candidate will have said something stupid.
Who will we vote for then?
It depends on how stupid it is, lol.
Vote for whoever you want -- I'm just saying that this guy's statement that "prison makes you gay" takes him off the table for me, for multiple reasons.

(not mentioning I told you its warren versus Clinton for the title.. and the chess moves have started.. note the press has hit christie, carson, walker, and clinton but not CRAP on warren.. Which puts each of the articles creators on my S#$% list)
Has any one post the full transcript over the whole interview for context
Yes, my "standards" of "I don't want a stupid person who demonstrates poor judgement running the country" result in a small pool, which is probably why I have not voted for the office of President since 2004.
I'm sorry, adjensen, but those last lines got me chuckling something fierce and I'm certain you didn't mean to generate laughter. It was just so sadly true that it was funny. Not looking forward to the next Presidential election as I'm pretty sure I might confuse it with Dumb and Dumber III.
