Boy, some people just can't do enough to make themselves unelectable, can they?
Ben Carson says homosexuality is a choice because many people "go into prison straight -- and when they come out, they're gay."
The neurosurgeon and potential Republican candidate for president in 2016 made the comment in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo that aired Wednesday on "New Day."
I've said it before, I'll say it again… Presidential candidates do not get elected by having crazy fringe viewpoints -- they get elected by not alienating their base, and still appealing to people in the center.
And saying that prison turns people gay ain't appealing to people in the center.
Foot, meet mouth. Mr. Carson, your days as a candidate are probably going to be pretty limited. If you have a controversial opinion, it's probably best to keep it to yourself, not broadcast it on national tv.
I don't think that Carson was ever really serious about running and that this statement proves it. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.
He makes more money now, being a Doctor and talking head than he ever would as POTUS. Less stress as well.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

He actually announced today he has an "exploratory committee" for a run.
Not sure what his game is at this point. Maybe just a diversion, to help out those who are already in power?
If you are going to judge a person based on one aspect, then your field to choose from will be very small indeed.
To me, it is a sign of a) stupidity, in claiming that "prison proves being gay is a choice" and b) poor judgement, in not knowing to keep such a statement to himself.
Yes, my "standards" of "I don't want a stupid person who demonstrates poor judgement running the country" result in a small pool, which is probably why I have not voted for the office of President since 2004.

Sign of Stupidity?
That's an understatement!
People in prison are segregated by gender! So did they choose to have sex out of human needs/instinct or have a choice to have sex with the gender of their choice?
So saying something about the gay is grounds for dismissal in an election?
Why does it matter?
Isn't the division of freedoms of individuals and the choices we make the reason we are where we are today?
Call me jaded, but I think it is time to stop dividing ourselves by race, sexuality and any other thing that is being used to separate us from being the one thing we all are.
But I'm going to elect a president, not the king of the gay-pride parade.
Can he do the job as president?
I don't really care what his stance on gays is.
The Supreme Court will finish that issue this summer.
Any potential president who allows their sexual/religious/political ideologies to decide whether or not others who live differently should not have that right?
Is a problem for me Dirk.
He may very well be a GREAT president, but his statement shows me he does not truly understand what freedom really means!
What's sad? He is a "Black Man"! Of all people who has experienced oppression because of their skin color, here he is using sexuality?
Just my twisted opinion, but I am tired of the separation and division.
