I am a non believer. I wasn't always that way. I grew up Catholic. Ended up in the Southern Baptist movement while in SC, and slowly lost my faith.
To be honest, it was the hypocrisy and the lack of showing the love that the church preached that turned me off for good about 8 years ago. The church in my eyes had become the nanny state we have now that we call our government. This is how I view things from my experiences in this life and not meant to question anyone else's faith.
Since I have given up my faith, I believe that whatever or who ever created me has allowed me to "see". Not as a religious man, not as a prophet nor a seer, but as a man who truly believes "All men are created equal". I have become an observer not a participant.
What I am seeing now, is a "Faith in Man". In other words, science, government, and laws that are taking away our abilities to be "Free Men". Forgive me, but I am not trying to be sexist, but using the term to describe us as human beings. I will NOT be "politically correct" nor apologize for it in this post.
Being a good person is no longer in the scheme of things I see coming. Being obedient to the law and obeying is now defining our cast in this world. For instance, who would have EVER thought that "feeding the homeless" would become a violation of the law. Who would have ever though that we now have a law called "The Good Samaritan Act"? How about growing your own food and because a neighbor thinks it is devaluing their property, we now have ordinances to prevent people from having gardens?
I just want you the reader to know, I am not drinking as I write this. I am sober as a judge! Well, that is if we even have sober judges now a days? But as per usual my focus is waning.
I will always defend those of faith, as long as they realize their faith gives them no special privileges to decide the rights of others. If it means that person works harder to become a better person, then they have my support. If a God does exist, I am almost positive, you will be judged on your "Good Deeds" in this life, not "dictating" to others how they should live. For by doing that? You take away another humans being to make their own choices in this life. When a human being can not make their own choices on how to live, they become a "slave".
Anyhow, I have totally went off my focus, so I will end this now.
I just thought on a Sunday of all days, I would share something that has been bothering me. Whether or not there is an ounce of truth to anything I just wrote? They are just how I perceive things for the moment.
