Washington (CNN)U.S. Army officers often resort to "evasion and deception," and everyone at the Pentagon knows it, according to a new study conducted by the U.S. Army War College.
"In other words, in the routine performance of their duties as leaders and commanders, U.S. Army officers lie," reads the study, which was conducted by the War College's Strategic Studies Institute.
I don't care if its true or not. It really doesn't matter on the level I think this DOES matter most. Is the Army now in the business of killing its OWN morale and making itself look worse than it already does to the world at large?
Really. Seriously. This is like an alternate reality at times. Just what is happening here?
I just did a quick look and would like to spend some additional time finding out more about the SSI, but in looking at their world wide list of PHD's and what quickly looks like 99% ratio to actual military, I need to know more. Then to have it reported on by CNN it's just seems to me to be piling on with the attacks of the left on the surface. To look at some of the books written it seems to be like they are supporting the administration and the changes made as well as the best way to handle them.
Wouldn't it be great if they spent the time analysing the lying politicians starting with the POTUS they could certainly write a much larger report than 33 pages. Gruber should be good for 33 pages by himself, Obama at least 100, and a chapter on scandals. Why doesn't CNN go after the lies that fall out of every open door in DC before they pick on the military. This is just another segment in the tear down of the US and its greatness.
With POTUS now called the Liar and Chief everyone knows leading by example is the way to motivate your troops. Everyone knows with the broken promises, and lies coming out of Washington this 33 page report amounts to a Sunday school lesson if its true. I don't think the Army could do any worse than Obama has to destroy moral in the US military than 100 Vietnams.
We need to quit this incessant tearing down of America by the left wing progressives and do some building, anyone who has managed people knows you can't beat them up everyday without pointing out the good things as well, you have to build after you tear down. If there are no good things then they have to go.
This is akin to the "The beatings will continue until moral improves". It just isn't going to happen with the current administrations approach and media backed efforts to support it. We are heading down the wrong path. No one gets off scott free, but for me, with what the military has to endure makes them golden until we see for sure otherwise. Discipline has to be like the law it is supposed to be applied to everyone the same, lets start with the POTUS first when it comes to lies and deception. Of course you will probably fall asleep during the the length of the video taped lies.
Lying is part of life and I see this article as a hit piece more than anything to tear down the military in others eyes.
One of the reasons that "lying" is so prevalent though is the total micromanagement of, well, pretty much everything. I used to prepare my Units USR (Unit Status Report) and that was always a stressful week. (Active does it Monthly , Reserves every Quarter.) The hoops we would jump through crunching numbers was astounding just to make the Unit, and by association, the Commander, look good. I hated it!
Any one who has any time in the Service knows without a doubt that the USR is a exercise in futility and does not actually reflect the true status of the Unit. But it looks good on paper.
When deployed, almost everyone in a leadership position wants to get away from the flagpole. Meaning they want to be able to run things without interference from their own higher up leadership. Often reports are exaggerated in the attempt to keep that leadership away from you.
Higher ups will fly in, stick around for a couple of hours or days and then eviscerate you upon returning to their base. They usually only have a slight clue as to the day to day operations and problems that the guys out front go through in that particular Unit.
My last three Commanders were all relieved. One was a Crackhead (True dat!), and the other two were narcissistic POS's. I couldn't get far enough away from them while deployed and when they did visit, I made damn sure that their stay was miserable.
So yea, lying is a way of life in the military just as it is everywhere else. But there are many of us, who do not lie. We just tell the truth in a manner on how we want the recipient to perceive it. Perception is reality after all.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
