the first time I heard this person speak I thought she was dumb as a box of rocks, does the Obama administration surround themselves with idiots to get what they want, because these people wouldn't know the truth if it bit them

I probably shouldn't say this, but when have I ever been politically correct?
She's an idiot, and, while there's a bit of truth in what she's saying (in so much as the region that ISIS currently occupies has little going for it, economically,) to put it in those terms is beyond embarrassing. People join ISIS because they have been sold on the religious zealotry, not because they are unemployed… overseas plane tickets cost money that people without jobs generally do not have, dummy.
I suggest we put her on the first boat to Syria and have her set up the first employment agency for the caliphate.

Oh, of course we can't kill 'em all. That would be easier, of course, but even these nut cases won't pull a Jim Jones for the world and just exit it for us. Nope...
What we CAN do by properly supplying those now sworn to the death to defeat ISIS is create HIGHLY motivated peace negotiators on their side, some day. We don't really even want to kill every single person ever to claim a part of or collaborate with ISIS. Still.....their defeat has to be total and absolute in the terms of that region, or it'll be a festering sore to go on for generations...best case. Worst? Of course, they just say 'screw it!' and make a bold dash for Italy and other historic Caliphic possessions.
Its History being formed..and those on the other side know only victory or defeat as total concepts. One or the other. After all, work for Allah can't leave much else, can it? (these folks are the most hard core of the VERY hard core believers, so that can never be discounted, IMO)

That's the problem that I didn't understand until I read that Atlantic article yesterday. You think that we're dealing with a "rogue nation" or a rebellion that has its eyes on establishing a state that has normal relations with the rest of the world -- they don't. They're diametrically opposed to it, in fact. They believe that anyone who wants to establish a normal country, call it "The Islamic State" establish Sharia Law and join the UN is an apostate who should be killed. That's what Al Qaeda wants, it is not what ISIS wants.
There will never be peace with ISIS. They will either be killed off, crumble of their own accord, or take over the world. Those are the only possible scenarios, given the premises that the caliphate is established on.

To be honest?
I myself could find it very easy to consider the UN an apostate. Hell I ain't even a whack job jihadist, but on that? They have my agreement!
The UN is nothing more than the sitting government for the NWO!
Call me crazy, but what good have they done? They sure as hell pretend to do good, but show me one God damn thing that was good the UN has done for the so called free world or the enslaved world for that matter....
One thing for sure? The UN is a damn good money sinc for the nations that waste money on them!
The UN isn't the point -- what ISIS is opposed to is establishing a "normal" country, for theological reasons.
From the Atlantic article (emphasis mine):
One comparison to the Islamic State is the Khmer Rouge, which killed about a third of the population of Cambodia. But the Khmer Rouge occupied Cambodia’s seat at the United Nations. “This is not permitted,” Abu Baraa said. “To send an ambassador to the UN is to recognize an authority other than God’s.” This form of diplomacy is shirk, or polytheism, he argued, and would be immediate cause to hereticize and replace Baghdadi. Even to hasten the arrival of a caliphate by democratic means—for example by voting for political candidates who favor a caliphate—is shirk.
It’s hard to overstate how hamstrung the Islamic State will be by its radicalism. The modern international system, born of the 1648 Peace of Westphalia, relies on each state’s willingness to recognize borders, however grudgingly. For the Islamic State, that recognition is ideological suicide. Other Islamist groups, such as the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, have succumbed to the blandishments of democracy and the potential for an invitation to the community of nations, complete with a UN seat. Negotiation and accommodation have worked, at times, for the Taliban as well. (Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan exchanged ambassadors with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates, an act that invalidated the Taliban’s authority in the Islamic State’s eyes.) To the Islamic State these are not options, but acts of apostasy.

That link to Dr. Adam Silverman?
Is locking up my IE every time I click on it!
I had to close my browser twice after clicking on it.
Going to do a google on him now.....
Edit: Okay, I wouldn't be so quick to reference this guy as an expert.
His Bio from the site you referenced at the bottom. Bold emphasis mine.
Dr. Silverman has just completed a four-year stint as Cultural Advisor to the U.S. Army War College. He holds a doctorate in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Florida and he deployed in Iraq in 2008 to interview Iraqi religious and political leaders to better understand their culture and values.
Led by Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT), the biggest U.S. defense companies are trading at record prices as shareholders reap rewards from escalating military conflicts around the world. Investors see rising sales for makers of missiles, drones and other weapons as the U.S. hits Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq, said Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at Chicago-based BMO Private Bank. President Barack Obama approved open-ended airstrikes this month while ruling out ground combat…
In its first night of airstrikes into Syria, the U.S. dropped about 200 munitions and launched 47 Raytheon-made Tomahawk cruise missiles, according to U.S. Central Command. The military also deployed Boeing’s GBU-32 Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Hellfire missiles from Bethesda, Maryland-based Lockheed, creating an opening for restocking U.S. arsenals.
I think she is telling us that absurdly overplayed nerdy girl types like her can actually get gainful employment, and doing work that normally requires intelligence and experience, at that!
Perhaps she means to communicate hope for the downtrodden nerds and morons alike, as she seems to represent both sub-types equally and with true enthusiasm.
All this while acting smart about international affairs! Well...no one's perfect, and being crappy at one's day job seems forgivable these days, eh? At least the nerdy girls with big 50's framed glasses will feel properly represented.
** Sorry..if someone actually looks like her, by choice. I really do apologize. There are just folks who are silly or ugly by things the cannot control..and then some that play the part SO hard, it may as well be central casting ...for a part that really doesn't fit well for that silliness.
When do we get real grown up professional back in these jobs? This gets embarrassing.....

The amazing thing about this administration and it talking heads is, I think they really believe it, and when you question them with common sense they become incredulous. Instead of trying to convince you there's is the good idea, you are an idiot for not seeing it like they do. Come to think of it they must have been running TOS.
