She's an idiot, and, while there's a bit of truth in what she's saying (in so much as the region that ISIS currently occupies has little going for it, economically,) to put it in those terms is beyond embarrassing. People join ISIS because they have been sold on the religious zealotry, not because they are unemployed… overseas plane tickets cost money that people without jobs generally do not have, dummy.

I suggest we put her on the first boat to Syria and have her set up the first employment agency for the caliphate.

Oh, of course we can't kill 'em all. That would be easier, of course, but even these nut cases won't pull a Jim Jones for the world and just exit it for us. Nope...

What we CAN do by properly supplying those now sworn to the death to defeat ISIS is create HIGHLY motivated peace negotiators on their side, some day. We don't really even want to kill every single person ever to claim a part of or collaborate with ISIS. Still.....their defeat has to be total and absolute in the terms of that region, or it'll be a festering sore to go on for generations...best case. Worst? Of course, they just say 'screw it!' and make a bold dash for Italy and other historic Caliphic possessions.

Its History being formed..and those on the other side know only victory or defeat as total concepts. One or the other. After all, work for Allah can't leave much else, can it? (these folks are the most hard core of the VERY hard core believers, so that can never be discounted, IMO)

That's the problem that I didn't understand until I read that Atlantic article yesterday. You think that we're dealing with a "rogue nation" or a rebellion that has its eyes on establishing a state that has normal relations with the rest of the world -- they don't. They're diametrically opposed to it, in fact. They believe that anyone who wants to establish a normal country, call it "The Islamic State" establish Sharia Law and join the UN is an apostate who should be killed. That's what Al Qaeda wants, it is not what ISIS wants.

There will never be peace with ISIS. They will either be killed off, crumble of their own accord, or take over the world. Those are the only possible scenarios, given the premises that the caliphate is established on.

I myself could find it very easy to consider the UN an apostate. Hell I ain't even a whack job jihadist, but on that? They have my agreement!
