The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has released a plan which would reclassify the popular .223 (M855) round as an armor piercing round.
This particular ammo type is most commonly used in all AR-15 style rifles, and if the ammo were to be reclassified, these firearms would be rendered obsolete without the proper ammo. Reclassification of the .223 round as an armor piercing round would effectively ban sales of the round to all civilians under the Gun Control Act of 1968. The GCA says any ammo “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes,” is the only ammo allowed to be sold to the general public. The ATF defines armor piercing rounds, though, as any ammo which is meant to penetrate body armor and was manufactured for military or police use.
However, the GCA was amended in 1986 to allow exceptions in the original Act. The amended Act, therefore, allows armor piercing rounds to be sold to”government agencies,” as well as “for testing or experimentation authorized by the Attorney General.”
The NRA Institute for Legislative Action though, is calling the new ban a “continuation of Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress.”
The VCDL (Virginia Citizens Defense League ) sends out notifications on things that are anti gun regularly and this is one from yesterday for us. They noted after researching they couldn't find a single incident of M855 ever killing a Law Enforcement Officer, and urge calls and mail to BATFE to stop. It really is stupid.
They also said Doctors are now organizing to outlaw guns because they consider it a health issue. I guess no one told them they kill more people from mistakes every year then guns do. Yeah 4 times more. Members of their own profession claim a 1000 a day. Theres that religion again.

Don't get me started on the medical profession!
You know, the one that no longer trains it's doctors on "nutrition", but instead says "pop a pill"?
Actually, the current batches of solid core or steel core bullets aren't designed to punch body armor or for military use. They are designed to meet the requirements of the Greenies who pushed the matter, knowing it would necessarily reach this point eventually. I hate to say I saw this one coming, but it actually is a point I've been talking about for a few years.
The push has been all out against lead. As if microscopic amounts will make you too stupid to tie your own shoes or something..while forgetting we lived in a virtual SEA of lead in past years (We..as in, the older generations today and all before) and I don't see anyone stumbling just to make it through their day. Leaded GASOLINE anyone? We breathed it..daily.
Yet..Remove lead from bullets!!..the cry has been. Cry and legal demand. remove lead ..and ..oh whatever, that nothing comparably soft can replace it...right?
Oh..they knew damn well nothing comparably soft COULD replace it, and so, steel core would naturally move in with other solid core alternatives ...which...by nature...become armor piercing. OOOPS....
Game, set and match for a big Check-Mate NO gun owner, let alone activist should be allowed to act the LEAST bit surprised about. The writing for this has been on the walls, doors, ceiling, and clear out into the street for too long to play dumb, like this wasn't foreseeable as an outcome.
...maybe...they'll even realize 30-06 rounds are armor piercing too. Oh, and I saw a lead core hunting round from a .303 punch a chromed/steel bumper on an old 50's Cadillac shell as a friend shot it from a few feet away. (He wasn't going to win any Nobels in his life..but lead wasn't his boggle). I guess that is armor piercing too!
....and, you know what? A .22 round, at the right velocity and composition can be more effective at punching Kevlar than a 12 gauge slug...and within the example, also lay the answer. Physics...these idiots are acting like they just discovered.
As long as we can make black powder from base materials? A form of shotgun will exist.
These anti-gunners blow me away (no pun intended). We (America) fought people for 10 years that used soup cans...and I mean little ones!!...to take a couple guys out of action. Frequently enough to be absolutely rude about it. Shotguns and bang sticks made from pipe, a cap and a nail head at the most primitive, but more lethal than the proper ones made with some degree of limit to damage in mind.
The more they take the 'safe and sane' to backdoor a right they cannot take....the more people turn to less safe and sometimes quite insane alternatives to achieve the same thing.
That wasn't Iraq where America got very thoroughly schooled in how much war could be made with how LITTLE in supply, if determination is there. It was Vietnam. You'd think the memory would be longer, assuming anything was ever learned.

I am more scared of the results of Progressive ideologies than I would having someone put a gun to my head! At least having a gun to my head offers me a quick and painless death!
Following the laws of Progressives? A life of slavery and constant torment!
