....and in other news, under the heading of "They really said this....." we have this fine 'Gentleman' from Maryland. He really DID say this, too....
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D–Md.) says, “so many people come to government knowing that they are not going to make the kind of money they would make in the private sector but they come to government to feed their souls.”
Now, for once? I agree with a Congressman 100%. They don't go to Washington for money. They just assume that as a perk of the position. (smirk)
I can certainly hear them slurping the energy and wealth right out of the nation though. Like energy vampyres, but no relation to the mythical thing of course. Mythical ones had a little class and some appreciation for appearances. These ones suck the life out of the nation like piggies on a feed trough.

As soon as the Honorable Gentleman from Maryland can persuade me that Federal workers have souls, I will be prepared to listen to his remarks.
Some, and I say, some, individuals in this country believe that Federal workers come to government because they won't have to work. Others, imply that these employees enjoy the fact that they are nearly impossible to fire. Still other Americans believe that these workers come to Washington to enjoy the power they gain over the public and the regulations which go through their departments.
Will the Honorable Gentleman admit that the traditional method of soul feeding is through church, synagogue, prayer, and reading spiritual books? If so, will he then direct me to the government agency which encourages any of those activities?
