The previous story shared in this forum was about Greece seeking total debt forgiveness, just as they were about to receive the last of the major loan segments they are thinking Europe would be forgiving about. It seemed kinda silly to think anyone would take that seriously, and perhaps the new Government in Athens was looking for negotiating leverage from a far out start point?
If that seemed silly? I think they've stepped into the realm of things that bring an uncomfortable hush over a room to think...did they really say that??
Wow.. Really? Germany has been among the best nations in history for having owned up, almost right away, to a very bad and dark historic period. (Japan has had some serious collective amnesia about the same war..but I digress).
Talk about hitting way below the belt for political positioning.
Just in case anyone might miss the obvious point and gain to it all?

Germany is historically very very BAD to push in that sort of personal and vicious way. I mean, so much for any constructive work at the very least, for a good period I'd think.
Germany compared to Greece on Military Strength
The squishy splashing sound would be Germany erasing its problem, if the two had it out as only two nations. Of course, that isn't the case because they aren't 'just two nations'.

Oh..and like a bad novel, it does get better...

That Putin must be the life of the party....when no Americans are anywhere nearby. (sigh)
So... If we were to look at a map today, and consider the geo-political situation right around 1914? Oh...It's a dandy we're watching shape up.
I'd put a buy order in for defense industry stocks...but only those very well diversified for physical locations in future years.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said Sunday the country had a "moral obligation" to claim reparations from Germany for the damages wrought by the Nazis during World War II.
Greece had "a moral obligation to our people, to history, to all European peoples who fought and gave their blood against Nazism," he said in a key address to parliament.

Tsipras's anti-austerity Syriza party claims Germany owes it around 162 billion euros ($183 billion) -- or around half the country's public debt, which stands at over 315 billion euros.

Russian President Vladimir Putin invited newly elected Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to visit Moscow as a gesture of good will after the two leaders discussed expanding ties between their economically deflated countries in a phone call Thursday. Greece’s controversial anti-austerity prime minister is expected to visit Russia May 9.
The leaders’ discussion focused partly on possible routes to send Russian natural gas through Greece into the rest of the European Union, the state-owned news service Sputnik reported. Russia previously sent a large proportion of its gas through Ukraine to Europe, but the conflict between the Ukrainian government and Russian-backed rebels has put that arrangement on hold.
