Hernando's Hideaway probably has a very different layout than what you're used to. Let me give you a map to the various conversations. When you look at your home page, you might see something like this:
Please move your mouse over the image to enlarge it.
These titles are our Categories. Some are self-explanatory. "Man, now that's weird" deals with the psychic, supernatural and unexplainable. In this example, I chose the History category. When I clicked on the dark category title bar it opens to look like this:
These choices are called Boards. They make up various aspects of the general History thread. You'll notice that some of the folders on the left edge have the word "new" on them. That means there is an entry on the board that you haven't seen yet.
In this third image, I have clicked on the American History board. Each of these lines represent a "Thread," or a separate conversation. The two at the top have a red exclamation point. That indicates they have been "pinned" there by staff and will show up at the top of every board, or the boards which the staff chooses to pin them to.
By clicking on the title of the thread, you will be taken to the thread and may read or post as you desire.
To close the list of threads and boards, simply click on the category title bar again, and all of the material will fold in to the category bar. You'll also notice that if there is a post you haven't seen anywhere in the category, the category bar will tell you "There's a new post here."
If you'd like to see a new board or category added, just send us a note. Please do the same if you have any ideas for making the site easier to use.
With respect,
Charles
