Ok so last night, my wife decided to do a little saftey check on our daughter's ipod (she's 12) to make sure that nothing is being done on there that shouldn't be...we scan he FB account, etc periodically just in case.....
As fast as you can say it, she came by and pulled the ipod from my wife's hands to delete her conversations(txts). What parent wouldn't want to dig deeper into this after that right? Well I found a "free " software that allows you to scan a devide for deleted items.
Unfortunately, this is only free for certain items, such as music and pictures.
> Well we found some "sensual" selfies on there that are troublesome (dont worry she is dressed...she damned well better be)...too sexy for a 12yo imho.
What we NEED to know now is if she has sent them to someone (I sure hope not). Anyone know of a free software that would allow you to do this, I cant afford to pay for one
She sais she didn't but then again she also said that she never took this kind of picture either...We obviously cant trust her on her word so...Please help....anyone!

We just have sons, so we only deal with chronic stupidity.
(I thank God every day we didn't have daughters)
Thanks Dirk, Needed a laugh as you can imagine!
My 2 boys arent at that stage yet, but I feel the stupidity is coming...if they're half as bad as I was, I am gonna be in a hurt locker in a couple years slapforehead

We have an electronic household where everything is wireless, yet I and my wife are the only ones with the password, so any and all devices get shut down and scrubbed by us regularly.
Can you shut down the internet for a while at your place?
An iPod doesn't have SMS capability, so far as I know, so any messages would have gone out through the iMessage application.
Googling "recover imessages" will net you a bunch of pages that describe how to do it -- the method depends on what kind of computer was used to sync up the iPod.
the worst part is that I have briefed her to hell about internet safety and to NEVER take this kind of picture especially not sending them to others.
Yes I do have a wifi network and yes it is secured.....we are confiscating the ipod for a VERY long time and am disconnecting it from wifi network. I can shut down the internet altogether because that would punish my boys and they don't deserve that, and I need to come on here to vent..... fm522295c4
She doesn't know that we know yet.....she is coming back from school in a little over an hour and s**t WILL hit the fan! its gonna be a rough night I can guarantee it!

I found this site also: that I sent my wife (I am at work now), she dowloaded it and it is now scanning the device. I will wait for her reply to see if it worked for messages.

I don't know if this may help, but if you are using a store bought router to run your wireless/wired connections (as opposed to a cable or phone company supplied one) then you can shut off internet by device within that. Let me know and I can give you the specific steps and where to get the ID for each device being used on your net. The address to get to your router should simply be:
The Cisco router I'm using allows individual devices to be restricted by day of the week, time of day, and different times for each day if we desire. Also, blacklisting a device entirely for no access is easy enough. In our case, it let our son keep his gizmo for non-connected things but he has 0 access to anything online with it. That would change if he left the house of course...but his device doesn't leave with him.
There is an added bonus on most routers and that is the ability to log incoming and outgoing traffic at that point, so EVERYTHING is captured. Some allow by device and some will make you pick out the devices from a long log file of everyone together. The useful thing at times is the ability to watch that log generate in real time ...so if my son is off in his room and thinking he's getting sneaky or something (he did, at first), I can watch the real time web requests/page loads with URL's. (grin)

Ok so although many other sites/softwares might have also worked, this one DID.
And thank God she had not sent them to ANYONE! What a relief! qc52229590
But she is nowhere near off the hook though!
Thanks for the help guys and gals!

So..assuming you found the sort of thing you kinda wish you hadn't found....and without sharing such things..how bad was it?
My first 'busted' with my son was quite a little morning for him. He'd recorded a behavior best left very private and never shared, let alone photographed and transmitted. I think we all spent the better part of the rest of an entire day talking nice and calmly about the realities of things.
Something he didn't know and we pounded into him so well he'll NEVER forget it (and might help you?). They aren't innocent of sexual offender status as producers and distributors of child porn just because they still ARE Children. The system is really cruel that way, when it's truly just kids being kids....but the system is good forgetting what compassion means in the hunt for 'justice'. I hope that sticks with him more than anything else. It's the one "ooops" we can't help fix for him, if he does it.
Basically the pics were all taken in our bathroom....after showering is my guess cause she'd take forever in there...and we can clearly see what room she is in...
she would cover her "intimate part" if you will with her towel and take selfies while having her lips in a "kiss"/sticking out her but/chest....lowering her shirt to just above her chest.....you get what I mean.
As a father (overprotective too I must add) I went berserk when I saw them...good thing she was not there when this happened.
My wife is in shock.
Heading home now so I will check back here later tonight! It wont be an easy time but we have to set the table straight and make an example out of this situation...
Thanks again all!
