This is one that is hard to classify. It comes off our very own side bar news feed actually. I decided to pull it up to share and perhaps chat a bit with because the headline was so absurd, I actually had to scroll up to see if I left the sidebar set to The Onion.
Oh.. no... This isn't satire. He really said and apparently, believes this. (Interesting things that says about his mindset and where his thinking comes from)
In one of his much-hyped interviews with YouTube stars on Thursday, President Barack Obama declared that politicians created colleges and universities through big-government legislation.
“The truth of the matter is: The reason we even have colleges is that at some point there were politicians who said, ‘You know what? We should start colleges,’” Obama suggested to interviewer Bethany Mota.
roflmao Sorry..I can't help it. I just can't wrap my mind around some of this utter nonsense anymore. It's too far off the reservation the rest of us refer to as 'reality'.
He noted, sublimely and profoundly, that “laws only pass if politics, you know, uhhh, allows those laws to pass.”

He did say once that he was a better speech writer than his speechwriters. Could that have been something he intentionally put in, then refused to listen to any criticism or correction? Or has his staff been so cowed.
It doesn't take long to discover that Yale was founded by Congregationalists to train their ministers, and was named after Elihu Yale who made a large donation. Yale (the man) was a governor of the British East India Company, a famous colonialist organization.
Kerry, Sotomayor, and Hillary all went there, and no politicians were involved in it's establishment.
But if Obama was thinking of Universities in general, he's missed the whole history of Colleges and Universities being founded throughout Europe by monks and priests.
Of course, he's stuck with the position that any successful establishment can't take credit for it's existence, "You didn't build that." There's no question about Obama anymore, if there ever was. The only question is how completely can he be restrained.
