Am I the only one to see this as being INCREDIBLY mercenary and cold blooded to an extreme?!
The bodies aren't even all buried yet, I'd guess, and he's racing to capitalize in the politics of it??
Oh.. he knows absolutely NO shame and as an individual and man? He's one of the worst scumbags I've ever seen serve in ANY level of public office. He's a damned embarrassment to see as our nation's President.
I sincerely hope others realize that man DOES NOT represent THE MAJORITY of this nation in things like this, or trying to find personal benefit in EVERY tragedy that happens.
(Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama will invite allies to a Feb. 18 security summit in Washington to try and prevent violent extremism, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said on Sunday after meeting his European counterparts in Paris.
The gathering of justice and interior chiefs came as France mourned 17 victims of Islamist gunmen this week in the worst assault on its homeland security in decades.
"We will bring together all of our allies to discuss ways in which we can counteract this violent extremism that exists around the world," Holder told reporters.
I almost posted this to Rant, but this isn't ranting, the more I thought about it. This is calling out slimy, gutter, tragedy based politics for what it is. He does best when others suffer most, and his inspiration comes in the tragedy of others. This man is sick...and I really hope the world appreciates the fact we aren't all as sick as our leader.

Oh that's easy peasy Mr Bunny. You just shred every concept of due process, fair play and logical governance. You give in to paranoia as a lifestyle and embrace it like a required part of your being.
Then you just make the concept of Pre-Crime enforcement a thing people not only agree with, but DEMAND to feel safe. Indeed.... Prevention is possible, if we don't mind living in a 1984 style world, taken several steps beyond.
Otherwise? (gasp) We'll have to accept that no one gets out of life alive, and idiots can go postal for their own petty reasons anywhere, at anytime with almost anything for a weapon. Folks don't want to face that reality, me thinks....
Seems to me the only prevention would be somehow knowing through some kind of testing who is going to be extreme. Maybe there is some DNA aspect that shows a trigger to the acceptance of a exploding vest or murderous behavior. I think it's more important to establish a way to keep knuckleheads like this out of office.
Mr. Wrabbit don't hold back next time tell us how you really feel.
BTW.. We have seen prevention. In fact, we saw near 100% successful prevention of 'terrorism'. What they called terrorism or dissent at the time was so LOW level compared to this, that the system we saw do it would just lay waste to the modern forms outright. In fact..It still DOES in some nations.
The Soviets considered dissent to be a form of terror against their system, by how we think of it all today. They really DID have block captains, listening devices in individual homes and common spaces alike, with oppression of the security services being a part of daily life. Cuba still has that today..and made VERY clear in the last couple weeks that nothing would be changing where that is concerned. No dissent will be tolerated, they re-declared. North Korea also shoots dissent, when they don't feed it to hungry dogs. That does prevent it....eh?
The problem as I see it comes when we realize those extremes are the *ONLY* way to prevent it by active measures. We could just make it so socially repulsive and show SO little tolerance that suicide by overdose would look much better to these losers ...but by active government force? We could recreate the Soviet Empire. That will prevent it. Sure as shooting freedom itself, right between the eyes.

Another thought.. Obama isn't the only leader and shaper of public opinion to be thinking of it in the same self serving terms. I could swear some of the media coverage had a striking resemblance to post 9/11 coverage. Then a while ago, I started seeing it outright referred to that way. France and Europe's 9/11 to fight the war on terror.
Ugh..We don't really have to go through this whole sequence of bad ideas a second time..do we? I hope the public over there remains standing as they are now, if the Governments start to go as ours did. Europe doesn't need another extended bout of fascism, and we've had about our fill of our own 'saving from ourselves'.

Think of it this way Wrabbit!
We have net neutrality coming up, and this summit will most likely be used to do nothing more than put the hammer down on those of us like you and I who choose to complain about our corrupt government online.
I watch FOX news, (not that I am a Belieber) but because it is quite accurate on predicting where the military/industrial complex is planning it's next move!
Well since the attack in France, the very next day, FOX news had a "Parade" of "special guests" who did nothing more than talk about going into Syria! BUT!!!! That was the psychological programming! They also kept mentioning Yemen! You know, the place these "terrorists" were trained?
Because I am new on this site, and lazy, I won't put up a picture of a map of where Yemen is located, but for those of you who know, how does Yemen, and Syria add up?
Anyhow, I am not one for introductions, but being this is my first post, I just want to say thank you for having me! :)
lol... Syria and Yemen. Oh you raise such a good point. The legal Government of Yemen is and has been under siege when not in outright threat of losing their nation for years now. It's the other front against the House of Saud by the Al Qaeda extreme. The Yemeni franchise of AQ also puts out Inspire Magazine..which is what I heard one reporter describe as a 'lifestyle' magazine for terrorists. having seen the first several issues..I'd agree. That is a good way of putting it. Yemen has flash that Iraq and Afghanistan groups didn't. So....Yemen? THAT one makes a bit of sense ..if someone assumes these criminals in France did more than sign up for the 'train me' and 'forget me' package at some point in the past.
Syria tho? Oh.. That IS a doozy..... We have a Government who HATES Al Qaeda (Kinda like US?) but we hate that Government even MORE than we do Al Qaeda itself ..so we'll fight them BOTH at once in their OWN nation, mind you, while saying it's for freedom and the Syrian people. (How do we fight BOTH sides of a civil war at once? Don't ask me...but there ya go).
Perhaps..Just maybe..If France looked at this as a terrible criminal action ..since it took no more skill, training or financial support than an American 18 year old with their first gun show AK on a rampage...they might consider this insane "No Go Zone" B.S. Paris has had for a long time now. That is where cops wouldn't even GO ..to leave policing to the Islamic communities that dominated areas. Some might call that allowing a nation within a nation, in a small sense ..and it sure isn't like "Chinatown" for culture and character in U.S. cities. Perhaps..just maybe..THAT appeasement to a minority at the expense of the majority is the thing to reconsider. Perhaps that, more than any terrorist planners in Yemen...is what killed so many people here.
Equal is good..Unequal to be treated better or above laws of a host nation? now now...bad things happen...like people taking that concept WAYYY too far. Like shooting journalists for writing cartoons.
It's good to know some people can still be passionate about something. Most we meet everyday on the street are clueless to the real world. It is the reason I visit just about all of your threads.
I think a dissident is a talker a dissenting voice, and an extremist is a doer. A dissident tries to rally people for change, an extremist will do it unconditionally at the cost of their own lives. Some people like to think the CIA has a very good mind control program but I would say they can't hold a candle to Islam. The security conference is the classic of never letting a crisis go to waste. Purely political, reassure the public, and put on the appearance of taking action. We have been doing this for 6 years.
I think I would like to be around 50 years from now to see what history has to say about the first black president. Will it be truth or will it be like everything today. MSM can't go a week without making things up even if it's about events that happened yesterday. Showbiz now extends from Hollywood to DC. Who ever decided Hollywood was the wood used to make magic wands, there is no magic happening in DC. The only magic going on in DC is done with heads of knots.
@marlingrace, Oh, you are absolutely right about the difference between dissent and terrorist tactics. I couldn't agree with you more. Then again, machine gunning people, down to children, for trying to climb a wall or climb a fence was murder in the first degree, in my opinion. The Soviets called it maintaining the Berlin Wall right up to the end. I think the KGB probably didn't have our sense of distinction between dissent and terrorism against the State.
The problem is...That last point is coming to be an accurate thing we can say about our own nation these days. That line of response to protest vs. violence is getting all blurry to where the same units turn out with the same heavy weapons.
You are right, some people do compare it to 9/11...*sigh*
How does one prevent violent extremism?
Oh...Too bad it isn't in the Rants section though.
Cause if it were, I might want to add...
WHAT ARE WE, WESTERNERS DOING IN THE GODDAMN MIDDLE EAST AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO TAKE OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS BACK HOME AND LEAVE THOSE GODDAMN COUNTRIES ALONE...

Not rude at all!
For those that strive for righteousness and truth, having someone tell us we are wrong for our way of thinking with an intelligent explanation is how we overcome our current situation!

In this country you don't have to climb a wall, or a fence, our illustrious president can ignore your 4th amendment rights and just drone strike dissidents such as Anwar Al Awlaki, then turn around and drone strike his son. I don't think anything is blurred anymore this is the only real redline the POTUS has made. To this day it's still crickets from the MSM. This is the real reason for arming the police like the military isn't it, dissident control at gunpoint on AMerican soil and probably with UN help.
As these things escalate it amazes me the public sits idly by and does nothing or says nothing. The only dissident action you find is on blogs, forums like HH, and tertiary news sites on the net. The country is in serious trouble with a guy like this, there are times when I wonder if we will survive it, or end up with checkpoints asking for papers please, and the citizens afraid to say anything.
@wrabbit2000, "I think the KGB probably didn't have our sense of distinction between dissent and terrorism against the State."
This is very accurate, I would say Russia, or the Soviet Union was one large listening post for just this reason. Interestingly enough we now have achieved the same, the difference being we save every bit of it digitally. If anyone thinks they are just saving the meta data, they are fools. Just look at the amount of storage they have, the super computer to run it, and the amount of water consumption required to cool it. KGB or Homeland Security you call it, to that add Fusion centers.

Are people really sitting idly by? Or just waiting Marlin?
I got to tell ya! Since I have come to the realization that "in the eyes of the government" anyone who preaches the Constitution is a potential "Homegrown Terrorist"? What does the "moral high ground" demand we take?
Let's take a gander at the current flavor of the day! "Extremists"! While the rest of the world is shaking in their boots over them, I can pretty much say that isn't what scares the government of the United States of America! Oh hell no! What scares them is those of us old enough and educated enough to understand the Constitution of the United States of America!
France allowed the "Left" to allow the Muslim immigrants to not only come in the country, but allow them to create over 700 "NO GO" zones! What that means is that the political whores of France, sold out the French citizens, and allowed people from other countries to move on in, and create their own little worlds, with their own little laws, and it became so bad that the police didn't even uphold the laws to protect their own citizens!
Can we say "Cloward and Piven" anyone? Do I get an "AMEN"!
Well the same strategy is being applied to my country! The USA!
The same thing that just happened in France? Has the blessings of our current government happening here!
I'm sorry! But my feelings about religious extremists? They carry on to those who bow at the alter of political ideologies!
Right versus Wrong is not a difficult topic for anyone with the ability of "Critical Thinking Skills".
But throw in religion, politics, sexuality? It's a feeding frenzy for those without the ability to think of what "FREEDOM" means for everyone!
Damn! Not even sure how I got here at this point, but I said what I said, and I am sticking to it!
