When it first started I emailed the kidlet with the link, and my daughter wanted to know what the big deal was about watching a giraffe have a baby; it wasn't long before she was hooked.
My husband made fun of the kidlet and I, but then he, too got addicted- the first thing he would do in the morning is put the giraffe cam on the TV.
LOL! It was the same with Russ. He laughed at Quin and me for being so into the giraffe watching, but it got to the point where soon thereafter, he would come over and watch the evening feeding and check up and as soon as he got home from work ask for giraffe updates and if I mentioned something about the giraffes he would pull the feed up on my phone "so I could check it" (after he watched it for a few minutes himself). It amused me.
Yay! The giraffes were back for a bit today! The giraffe cam will be back live every Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm Eastern. I was so happy to get to see the giraffes for a while this afternoon.
The baby has a name now! There were two rounds of voting for names. The first round was any name (within reason, I assume) could be submitted and that would determine the top 10 names. The second round was voting for one from the top 10 from the first round. Allysa's choice won, so Allysa, April and Oliver's keeper, got to choose the name for the baby. She chose a Swahili name: Tajiri. They will call him Taj for short.
LOL! I know, I was crossing my fingers that it would be Allysa's choice. Unity didn't seem like a good fit to me, either. It is a nice sentiment, but I saw more sniping in the comments on AAP's page than I saw of unity. I think that Apollo was another one that was doing well, at least that was what I was told by another friend. I didn't vote, with having to pay to vote, so I was hoping that those who did made a good choice. I think Allysa chose a great name.
I also enjoyed getting to watch the feed again today. Baby Taj is growing and still just as adorable. He was romping around and playing a bit and just being an adorable baby.
