I freaking broke a tooth in half today!! I was eating a cereal bar last night and a seed on there poked into my tooth....it hurt like hell i kid you not!
Well i was having soup today at lunch....and when I ate a soda cracker.....i ended up biting into a tooth (well part of one anyway)! And that was no better that te damned seed!!
Teye22, Ouch, that is horrible. I'm glad that you'll be able to get in quickly to get it taken care of. My fingers are crossed for you that there isn't any pain for you after the extraction.
Quin went to her boyfriend's house today to go swimming and when he dropped her off this evening, the first thing she did was show me her sunburn. She took SPF 100 that is supposed to be good in water and I asked why didn't she use it. She said that she asked Dillin (her BF) to spray her back and he only sprayed her back, but not her shoulders. She said that she asked why he did that without getting her shoulders and he said that it looked like the mist was going on her shoulders so he didn't know he needed to spray them directly. I explained that he is a teenage boy who hasn't had a huge experience with girlfriends so this might be something that has never had to be addressed before and, just like you would explain something in detail to anyone who is unfamiliar with something, Dillin isn't a mind reader and needs you to give detailed instructions sometimes. So, now she knows. In the meantime, she is bright, vivid tomato red. I forsee us going through LOTS of aloe and shea lotion.
Best thing in the world for severe sunburn pain is Milk of Magnesia. It will dry your skin out, and make you peel- but it is the only thing that took the pain away when I burned so bad I had huge blisters. It made two weeks of living hell tolerable....
I wonder if applying something non-greasy, like aloe vera before applying the MoM would keep the skin from drying out so bad? Even baby oil might work, since it mostly gets absorbed...?
Nugget, MoM, eh? that's one remedy I haven't heard before, I'll have to remember that!
Teye22, dang, that's some bad dental luck there, yikes. All I can really think of at the moment is "They better give him good painkillers!"
A skunk sprayed somewhere really close to the house last night, it still stinks around here today. Last night was awful, though. Skunk stink doesn't usually bother me much at all, but this time was horrible. It was like a pile of rancid, rotting onions everywhere you went. Like I said, it still smells out there today, but not nearly as horribly as last night. I think that can be attributed to it being in the 60's, and the sun not baking the schtank up a few notches.

4th of July weekend begins. The locals shooting off fireworks started in earnest tonight. Right about 8p.m. and only just stopped (mostly) about half an hour ago. Since we live out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but crop fields, lots of people go to Indiana and Wisconsin to get "real" fireworks to shoot off. They are illegal in Illinois, but little tents and shops spring up right across the borders selling the big stuff. We can buy little fireworks here, just not the kind of stuff that cities use to put on their big displays. It doesn't stop people from getting them when the Wisconsin and Indiana borders are just a few hours away.
Mostly I don't care about it too much. We don't bother with them and I wouldn't try to stop anyone else from having fun with them if that's their thing. I just wish they would stop shooting them off so late and maybe be a little more considerate of their neighbors who do have to be up early in the morning - even on the weekends.
Glencairn , folks around here are kind of constant with the fireworks, holiday or no holiday. There are only small lulls in kaboom frequency. Spyder joked once Michiganders must be obsessed with celebratory fireworks for anything & everything because 6-8 months of the year are frozen & snowy, so they go bonkers during the warm months. He might not be wrong here, the brick & mortar stores for fireworks are always jam-packed with people around our area BTW, that's a first for me, I'd only ever seen the tents, not physical, dedicated stores in the south.
Veggie plants just aren't meant to happen this year. Having a hell of a time getting anything to sprout was bad enough, now the cat ate all but one of my successful sprouts. So much for all 6 cayenne sprouts. And one of the two habanero sprouts. Better luck next year?
Oh no! I'm sorry you lost your sprouts. At least someone got to enjoy them, even if it was just the cat. We could never keep plants in the house either. My cat always used to chew on them, no matter how carefully we tried to put them someplace he couldn't easily get to.
I think Spyder's theory has merit. I find it entirely plausible. We don't have any fireworks stores around us, at least that I know of, just the tents, but with everything but the tiny stuff illegal here that makes sense. I don't think you could sustain a store on sparklers and bottle rockets.
We get people shooting off fireworks all year, but only on a sporadic basis here and there mostly. The times we get them for days before and days after are usually just for 4th of July and New Years. It could always be worse, I suppose.
Nugget, that would suck! We were lucky tonight that they tapered off (mostly) around 11:30-ish. Quin wasn't happy since she got tired early and tried to go to bed just after 10 and couldn't get to sleep, but it could have been worse and I am fully expecting it to be worse tomorrow. Today was just a constant stream of them at regular intervals, tomorrow we will have that all day and then after the village does their display the locals will do their own fireworks. In past years this usually goes on until 1 or 2 in the morning, but being that it is a Monday and people have to work the next morning, my fingers are crossed that it won't be so bad.
Yay for the 4th being on a work night! Fireworks seem to have tapered off to mostly nothing already and it is only 12:40a.m. Other years they have gone much longer with people shooting their fireworks off until 1 or 2 in the morning if it was a weekend night.
Business is very slow, so not much money coming in. All our clients seem to be away on holiday? I took a week off work, and spent most of that running around after our 2 boys. Festival season is upon us and I put my campervan in for its annual MOT inspection and it has failed on several minor but necessary things! It will cost over £600 to fix. The garage is busy and may not even be able to fix it in time for Friday, which is when I need it (for a music festival I always attend). So, I might be paying through the nose, money I can't afford, to get my van fixed, and it might not even be ready in time for me to use!!! ughh. My pal (that I always go to the festival with) can't go this year, but didn't think to tell me??
