The school board had another executive meeting (meaning that parents weren't welcome to attend) and approved the voluntary retirement of the superintendent effective as of March 11th. Unfortunately, they will pay a severance to him through the 2017-2018 school year. I don't understand exactly why he wasn't fired on the spot and why he is being paid a severance unless it was something in his contract that couldn't be undone. However, if he is convicted of the felony Unlawful Restraint charge, the district will discontinue the severance to the superintendent.
The article said that the current principal is qualified to be superintendent, but, frankly, he is just as poor a choice and I would hate to see him take over the position, though I'm afraid that it will happen regardless of what the parents want.
What an outrage! It doesn't seem right that such important decisions are made by a select few!Or that the pearents- who pay for the entire school system- should have any of the facts surrounding them!
It used to be when a person took a public position they would be held, and held themselves, to a higher standard. Now, corruption and bad behavior is met with financial rewards.
It's too bad ther isn't a lawyer among the parents willing to challenge the decision, but I think it's lawyers running this country for decades, writing policies and laws, that made this type of corruption possible in the first place.
It looks like you get to pay for TWO superintendents through 2018! It is a defense attorney's strategy to ask for repeated postponements for trial, as the more time that has passed, the less the chance for conviction. Either way, the guy gets to pocket a wad of tax-payer dough without lifting a finger.
