Hey guys... Perhaps someone that considers themselves devout with either Catholicism or Christianity in general can answer this for me...but since when were all animals considered to have souls and redemption through Christ?
It's been my understanding, for my entire life for that matter, that was NOT how the Church viewed non-human life for any 'afterlife'. In fact, I've heard it very bluntly stated, several times by people, God's creatures were placed here for our use, and at our pleasure...not as equals to us.
I don't agree with that last sentiment..at least, not entirely. However, I am curious what others think?
Here is what got the thought process rolling today:
I've never thought of this Pope has suffering H.U.A., but is he? A profound case of it?? This seems to be a serious change of core Church doctrine and belief system. Fundamental, in fact. Is *ALL* life covered under God's Grace and possessing Souls for passage to Heaven...or not? It may seem a small thing..but to those an answer defines belief systems for? I can't imagine this being a SMALL matter?

So I wonder here... Was the Pope merely consoling a boy over his dog, and had a brainfart come over him for WHO he now is and HOW much power every single word he utters, carries.....or did he mean to upend 2,000 years of considered belief over the nature and origin of the Soul?
I do wonder..with politicians as well at times...do they even comprehend the fact they don't GET personal opinions anymore and what they say offhandedly CAN change real world things?

In an effort to console a grieving boy after the death of his beloved pup, Pope Francis declared that ‘all of God’s creatures’ have a shot of ending up in heaven when they die. Francis’ puppy views reverse statements from previous popes: In 2008, Pope Benedict XVI said not all creatures are ‘called to eternity.’

The declaration opened the possibility that dogs, cats, horses and the rest of the animal kingdom could end up at the pearly gates alongside their people.
