I just have a couple comments to make on all that....
property taxes? I hate 'em. What homeowner in this nation doesn't hate them? On the other hand? Schools..I love 'em. My son is out of the house 8+ hours a day for 2/3rds of the year! (smirk) Someone has to pay for those schools, and in most localities in our nation, that would be me. Not the renter in an apartment..but me. A homeowner. That is what a large % of my property taxes go to as a local and direct hit to pay for a local and black/white public service.
I could write a lot about how unfair it feels when I didn't have a child, or for those who don't..but then, 1:1 parents to school in charging just the ones who actually have kids attending wouldn't pay for more than an old one room schoolhouse level of education these days. Sucks..but there ya go.
---
On building permits..Hmm.. I don't much care for permits, but then, you understand that is not a federal or even a state issue..right? That is at your county level, and those "down ticket" elections people miss by "protesting" the national vote in staying home. Those lower people set things like permit regulations and tax rates, in many cases, 100% themselves.
For instance...in my county and city, particularly, you need a permit to build so much as a storage shed. People getting killed by failure of shoddy ones (someones falling on people or things in a tornado, as one very real reason to have standards here) causes cities to do such things. One county north of me tho? You can literally build your entire house, with wiring..plumbing..and the whole enchilada without ever asking a soul, or submitting a thing to any authority.
Think national..but vote local..has always been my thing, because property taxes and permit regulations (or the lack of any at all) are 100% local matters, in most cases.

@marlingrace,
Chattel Not only are 'we' chattel... The land that we think we own, is already subject to a first lien...with the ultimate lienholder being the Federal Government. So - any 'ownership' we might perceive to hold, is a clever twist in legal lingo, that can only be claimed/held through documents filed in government offices, that pass some governmental criteria for 'appropriate'.
In many States, you can own the surface estate (surface of the earth down to ~ 200' beneath the surface...[varies]), and have no say in whether someone can come onto your property, and start cutting roads, in the shortest line, possible...to where they want to explore for oil/gas/hydrocarbons. You may get some remunerations for the troubles, and they may even keep the roads neat and useful/beneficial...to you - but, ultimately - you had no choice in the matter. You are a virtual squatter. A share-cropper...tending the Mineral Owners tract, parcel or plot...of Earth. And even their (Mineral Owners) Ownership/s and Rights are subject to Uncle Sambo.
It is true that freedom can be found within prison bars, walls & fences, and the chains and bullwhip crack of slavery, and even within systems of justice and society...but it is a circus flea's freedom...to 'jump only this high - and no higher'.
~This has been a limited opinion on limited freedom.
BTW - ETA - The Federal Government (as well as state government, school districts, universities, etc...) are the Mineral Owners in many cases.

I love it when these topics come up, for the high devil's advocate factor.
I see your point about mineral rights and ultimate ownership and it is a real thing to me, on both rural and urban examples. Where I live, in the city, I'm on a small city lot with a 4bd and a fenced backyard. Just large enough to be a pain to have to mow but nowhere large enough to justify even a used little riding mower. I own the house..or to be accurate, the bank does for another 40 something thousand dollars (not far from owning it now, actually). I don't own what is under it. I own the surface and what is on top, and attached to it. No air space claims, of course, and being in the flight path to a Lev. 1 trauma center makes that a very moot point anyway.
There are also at least 3 and perhaps as many as 5 utilities running under at least a piece of my land, and I was a little shocked when Dig-Rite came out and marked for a minor backyard project we had in mind. So it would actually be a direct impact to quality of life for my neighbors if I did own down, and could interfere with or claim some compensation for the use of 'my' land, which they cross. My neighbors might also get annoyed if I owned downward, and then actually exercised those rights to drill a well or just felt eccentric and made a vertical mine shaft because I could.
--
On the roads? Imminent Domain does kinda suck, and if it isn't that, its a very similar legal concept the right of way demands are imposed for roads to be allowed..even for commercial enterprises like logging or energy drilling. You should see some of what businesses are told they must do, basically for free at times, if they own a large piece of land and want to make any major improvements, for how that goes. When I worked for Cannon Express, the old man there owned the terminal land and a few hundred acres around it. He wanted to add to the parking area for the trucks, but the city demanded he also bisect part of his land with a new access road to connect sides of his large tract. He never expanded the parking lot, is what it came down to.
On the OTHER hand....Environmentalists and others have attempted to close access to lands beyond what they've bought, with the whole intent BEING about limiting access..to find that little sword you mention cuts BOTH ways. People we may not like can demand an access road ..but people we also may not care for cannot DENY access to lands by playing gatekeeper with a land claim.
The ups and downs of what remains of our free nation.

To that you can in a lot of cases water rights as well. EPA and the clean water act assures that. wrabbit mentions property taxes in California my folks house in Murrieta has a very small yard. Their law is no more than 1% of the assessed value. Who assesses the value? Now since they spend money like it falls free from the sky on the problems of illegal immigrants and liberal policies by law they can't raise property taxes so they instituted a waste water management fee. It is usually 1.5 to 2.5 times your water bill. With the drought the cost of water is through the roof.
Property taxes, water and waste management were costing her 3,000 a month, that's after tax dollars. Thats more than she made before she retired. This cost never goes away, how is a person supposed to retire like this? She has since moved from her dream home to a tiny house in a retirement community up the freeway. Where cost are 1/2 of that number or less and her SS covers it. The wife and I have a ongoing debate of the benefits of owning versus renting. I think what it amounts to is it depends on where you live, big city owning is better country it's a toss up IMO.
Wrabbit also said think federally and vote locally there is truth in that but the issue here in VA is the water is controlled by the Federal Government on aquifer leases, back to the state. So it's the trickle down screwed method of governance the Fed charges the state more and it's passed on to us. There is no escaping the bastards.
Anytime you are assigned a ID number that follows you from birth to death chattel is the only thing that comes to mind for me. Despite that I still live in the best chattel pen in the world for now.
[Editor's Note: August 6, 2015 Republican Debate: Every question, beginning with the very first one, addressed to Trump by the Fox Sabotage & Embarrassment Team was intended to make Trump look bad. It was not a debate; it was theater. Donald Trump is clearly more forceful and powerful than any other candidate running, regardless of party affiliation. His chances of winning over all other Republican candidates, including Rand Paul, is practically guaranteed. While Jeb Bush will attempt to buy his way into the top spot, I don't think rank and file Republican delegates will buck the clear choice among everyday Republican voters. Every other candidate standing on that Cleveland stage looked - and acted - like a schoolboy next to Donald Trump. If Trump is nominated as the presidential candidate of the Republican party, he would win in November 2016, despite the mega millions in Israeli lobby money that would be lavished on Colonel Kosher himself, Bernie "I love Israel But I'm No Dual Citizen" Sanders. Benghazi Hillary is going nowhere, despite whatever absurdities the idiot Left may wish to fantasize.
On the upside, Donald Trump seems to be a true American who wants America and Americans to thrive. He actually wants to improve the country, rather than enrich himself. His independent wealth makes all the difference in the world. His force of character and drive is exactly what is needed in a world dominated by political whores dancing to the tune of Cabalist bankers, striving to install a one world satanic nightmare.
Donald Trump satanic hand signOn the downside, he has the mindset of a fascist with a get-tough-on-crime mentality who is ready to be brutal with anything or anybody that annoys him, which means police brutality and civil rights abuse would get worse, not better. He has no qualms about flashing the satanic hand sign. He's pro Pentagon and says the military is "weak" and neeeds to be built up (huh?). He loves Netanyahu and thinks he's a great prime minister because he's "tough." His daughter Ivanka converted to Judaism and is married to billionaire Jewish family real estate mogul Jared Kushner. Their kids are Jewish. Trump's son Eric is married to Jewish Inside Edition producer, Lara Yunaska. Trump has major investments in Israel. His misplaced focus on Iran as the Center of Evil who "cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapns" and his buddy-buddy relationship with Rahm Emanuel's brother, Ari. tells me he's in Israel's corner. However, his self assured, independent nature would not allow Israel to push him around too much before he started pushing back...and pushing back hard. He's far more competent and intelligent than Dubya or his brother could ever hope to be and would not allow the Neocons to use him as a front msn for war profiteering, but his impatience to 'get things done' would mean special forces and bombing attacks could be launched on a monent's notice. His desire to even the playing field with China is good, as his desire to stop illegals from flooding into this country. He would not go along with the North American Union game plan. Overall, he would probably slow down and disrupt the agenda to destroy America, and help more than hurt. The fact that the elites are in an absolute panic becuase he's gaining ground so fast, has to tell you something. ....Ken Adachi]
“I don’t know if it was the RNC, or Fox, or whoever, but it certainly appeared to look like an organized attack,” [Trump special counsel Michael] Cohen said. “Obviously, somebody, you know, doesn’t want him to continue to rise in the polls. They need to figure out how to stop this movement.”
Trump is currently the front-runner in Republican primary polls. During the debate, he faced tough questions from Fox News moderators on his past comments about women, his business record, and his controversial positions on immigration. In the hour after the debate, Fox News featured Luntz’s focus group, as well as commentary from hosts and guests who described Trump’s performance as a “collapse.” Cohen described this as an “insidious” attempt to spread the perception Trump lost the debate.
“They attempted to create a negative narrative of Mr. Trump both during and after the debate but failed,” Cohen said. “Their actions are insidious and not in line with viewers or the American people as Mr. Trump won, according to three independent polls.”
Fox and Megyn Kelly Sharply Criticized for Biased Mistreatment of Trump and Their Failed Attempt to Make Jeb Bush Look Good
I don't know how many would endorse Trump for President. However, the article below describes what Trump might/would do if elected and I think a lot of it would be. Supposedly, it was written by Wayne Allyn Root, Obama's Columbia's classmate, who attended the classes Obama said he attended but Root never saw him there or anywhere at the university. Whether you like Trump or not, this is an interesting read.
By Wayne Allyn Root
People are getting very nervous. Obama. Valerie Jarrett. Eric Holder. Hillary Clinton. Jon Corzine, to name a few. And I know why.
I wrote a book entitled, "The Murder of the Middle Class," about the unholy conspiracy between big government, big business and big media. They all benefit by the billions from this partnership and it's in all of their interests to protect one another. It's one for all, and all for one. It's a heck of a filthy relationship that makes everyone filthy rich. Everyone except the American people. We get ripped off. We're the patsies.
But for once, the powerful socialist cabal and the corrupt crony capitalists are scared. I've never seen them this outraged, this vicious, this motivated, this coordinated. NEVER in all my years in politics, have I seen anything like the way the mad dogs of hell have been unleashed on Donald Trump.
When white extremist David Dukes ran for Governor of Louisiana even he wasn't treated with this kind of outrage, vitriol and disrespect. When a known fraud, scam artist and tax cheat like Al Sharpton ran for President, I never saw anything remotely close to this. The over-the-top reaction to Trump by politicians of both parties, the media and the biggest corporations of America has been so swift and insanely angry that it suggests they are all threatened and frightened like never before.
Why? Because David Duke was never going to win. Al Sharpton was never going to win. Ron Paul was never going to win. Ross Perot was never going to win as a third party candidate. None of those candidates had the billion dollars it takes to win the presidency. But Donald Trump can self fund that amount tomorrow,¦and still have another billion left over to pour into the last two week stretch run before election day.
No matter how much they say to the contrary, the media, business and political elite understand that Donald Trump is no joke and could actually win and upset their nice cozy apple cart.
It's no coincidence that everyone has gotten together to destroy Donald. No this is a coordinated conspiracy led by President Barack Obama himself. Obama himself is making the phone calls and giving the orders- the ultimate intimidator who plays by the rules of Chicago thug politics.
Why is this so important to Obama? Because most of the other politicians are part of the old boys club. They talk big, but in the end they wont change a thing. Why? Because they are all beholden to big money donors. They are all owned by lobbyists, unions, lawyers, gigantic environmental organizations, multi-national corporations like Big Pharma or Big Oil. Or they are owned lock stock and barrel by foreigners- like George Soros owns Obama, or foreign governments own Hillary with their Clinton Foundation donations.
These run-of-the-mill establishment politicians are all puppets owned by big money. But one man- and only one man- isn't beholden to anyone. One man doesn’t need foreigners, or foreign governments, or George Soros, or the United Autoworkers, or the Teachers Union, or the SEIU, or the Bar Association to fund his campaign.
Billionaire tycoon and maverick Donald Trump doesn't need anyone's help. That means he doesn't care what the media says. He doesn't care what the corporate elites think. That makes him very dangerous to the entrenched interests. That makes Trump a huge threat. Trump can ruin everything for the bribed politicians and their spoiled slave masters.
Don't you ever wonder why the GOP has never tried to impeach Obama? Don't you wonder why Boehner and McConnell talk a big game, but never actually try to stop Obama? Don't you wonder why Congress holds the purse strings, yet they've never tried to defund Obamacare or Obama's clearly illegal Executive Action on amnesty for illegal aliens? Bizarre, right? It defies logic, right?
Well first, I'd guess many key Republicans are being bribed. Secondly, I believe many key Republicans are being blackmailed. Whether they are having affairs or secretly gay, or stealing taxpayer money, the NSA knows everything.
Ask former House Speaker Dennis Hastert about that. The government even knew he was withdrawing large sums of his own money, from his own bank account. Trust me- the NSA, SEC, IRS and all the other 3-letter government agencies are watching every Republican political leader. They know everything.
Thirdly, many Republicans are petrified of being called racists. So they are scared to ever criticize Obama, or call out his crimes, let alone demand his impeachment.
Fourth, why rock the boat? After defeat or retirement, if you're a good boy you've got a $5 million dollar per year lobbying job waiting.
The big money interests have the system gamed. Win or lose, they win.
But Donald Trump doesn't play by any of these rules. Trump breaks up this nice cozy relationship between big government, big media and big business. All the rules are out the window if Donald wins the presidency. The other politicians will protect Obama and his aides. But not Donald.
Remember Trump is the guy who publicly questioned Obama's birth certificate. He questioned Obama's college records and how a mediocre student got into an Ivy League university.
Now he'd doing something no Republican has the chutzpah to do - question our relationship with Mexico, question why the border is wide open, questioning why no wall has been built across the border, questioning if allowing millions of illegal aliens into America is in our best interests, questioning why so many illegal aliens commit violent crimes yet are not deported, questioning why our trade deals with Mexico, Russia and China are so bad.
Donald Trump has the audacity to ask out loud why American workers always get the short end of the stick? Good question.
I'm certain Trump will question what happened to the almost billion dollars given in a rigged, no-bid contract to college friends of Michele Obama at foreign companies to build the defective Obamacare web sites. By the way that tab is now up to $5 billion.
Trump will ask if Obamacare's architects can be charged with fraud for selling it by lying. He will ask if Obama himself committed fraud when he said, If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.
Trump will investigate Obama's widespread IRS conspiracy, not to mention Obama's college records.
Trump will prosecute Hillary Clinton and Obama for fraud committed to cover-up Benghazi before the election.
How about the fraud committed by employees of the Labor Department when they made up dramatic job numbers in the last jobs report before the 2012 election.
Obama, the multi-national corporations and the media need to stop this. They recognize this could get out of control. If left unchecked, telling the raw truth and asking questions everyone else is afraid to ask, Donald could wake a sleeping giant.
Trump's election would be a nightmare. Obama has committed many crimes. No one else but Donald would dare to prosecute. Donald Trump will not hesitate. Once Donald gets in and gets a look at the cooked books and Obama's records, the game is over. The gig is up. The goose is cooked.
Eric Holder could wind up in prison. Valerie Jarrett could wind up in prison. Obama bundler Jon Corzine could wind up in prison for losing $1.5 billion of customer money.
Hillary Clinton could wind up in jail for deleting 32,000 emails or accepting bribes from foreign governments while Secretary of State or for "misplacing" $6 billion as head of State Department for lying about Benghazi.
The entire upper level management of the IRS could wind up in prison. Obamacare will be defunded and dismantled. The Obama Crime Family will be prosecuted for crimes against the American people. And Obama himself could wind up ruined, his legacy in tatters.
Trump will investigate. Trump will prosecute. Trump will go after everyone involved just for fun. That will all happen on Trump's first month in the White House.
Who knows what Donald will do on month #2?
That's why the dogs of hell have been unleashed on Donald Trump. This may be our only shot at saving America, uncovering the crimes committed against our nation and prosecuting all of those involved.
If Trumps expects not to be questioned on his message, he has another think coming. I bet he's absolutely fuming and reaming his staff a new asshole because Ben Carson has quietly just come and tied him in the Iowa polls. And Carson is gaining ground elsewhere too, as is Carly Fiorina.
I wonder what he'll be saying nasty about them two. But I predict, if he goes that route, it'll be a disaster for him.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
I think what we are seeing for the first time is the clear cut support for democrats with CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC Versus republican support from Fox. I don't think a person has to be paying attention anymore to get it. Party line for Republicans is give Trump the beat down and Fox is following suit. Even the political pundits are giving him the beat down. If you stand back with any unemotional attachment either way (which is hard to do) you can see the political machines on both sides at work. It's almost comical in that their beat down hasn't been working. But there is an cumulative effect that is starting to take place. The Nazi's knew if you repeat the lie long enough they will start to believe you.
This has turned out to be quite an interesting process so far, the only thing that the republicans need to learn is to not eat their own and stand up and be counted. The democrats need to learn their field of candidates consist of a criminal, a out in the open socialist, and a VP that's dumber than a sack of hammers.
I really like Carson my only issue with him so far is one of his anti-gun comments. That's "no one in a big city needs a semi auto rifle that holds 30 rounds". When considering reality, thats where you need it most. Shooters and honest citizens have been continually screwed over by government on gun control and it has yet despite 100's more laws to outright firearms bans has made no difference. IMO we could fill the Whitehouse and cabinet positions with people from HH and do a better job than we have been getting.

Wow! This is what I was hoping for from Hernando's! That may seem over the top, but I have spent a week or two posting at Democratichub.com Of course you can go there, but I wouldn't recommend it. If something Republican is brought up, whether it's a candidate, a policy, an idea, or a supporter, the vast majority of people will describe it as "Insane," "Evil," "Ignorant," or "Racist." Sometimes they would choose two from the list if they wanted to make an especially serious point.
Yes, I was polite and didn't support either party. I posted some facts which could be interpreted in several ways, but which were being ignored. I suppose I could have passed from a moderate Democrat, but I truly was just trying to learn. I didn't. But here? You guys are great.
I suppose I should start out with some general impressions before getting into details such as property taxes (which are entirely controlled by individual states), eminent domain, and Social Security numbers.
I've heard it said in other articles that trump may be the only serious politician in the race. Yes, I had to read it twice. That centered on the idea that Trump is the only one (at least getting national attention) that believes that decisions should be made based on what is good for America and Americans, even if that is sometimes at the expense of other nations.
Immigration? Trump might be asking, "Is that good for Americans trying to find work? Is it good for America which is being called on to provide more and more support? Fight the drug cartels? If it isn't, then let's stop it." Is the Iran treaty good for America? If not, stop it.
Trump has shifted the discussion, not just because of the theatrics, but because he is invoking a principle not seen in American politics for some time. Call it "America First," or "A Shining City on a Hill," Trump is saying we need an entirely different philosophy. Not what is good for the government or political elites, but for the country. Other politicians have said it, even Obama, but it hasn't been believed until now.
Now, Trump on the issues. He's been as clear as others have been at this stage of the game. We're what, fifteen months away? I agree that he has to come up with some serious answers now that he has begun to identify the problems, but there is time.
With all that said, he is still not my first choice. Oh, of course, I'd vote for most of the GOP if they were running against Clinton. I'd vote for any of the GOP if they were running against Sanders.
With the proviso that my opinion might change, right now I like (Alphabetically) Carson, Cruz, Trump, Walker. There are three things which stand out in my mind about Carson. One, he took on Obama when he was only ten feet away at the National Prayer Breakfast. Two, considering his popularity, the press haven't really found anything they can criticize him for (and I'm sure they've checked his birth certificate, grades, criminal record, friends and colleagues. Apparently they've come up with nothing. What kind of man can bear up under that scrutiny? And third, he seems disciplined. He keeps gaining ground, day after day, winning more supporters while alienating almost no one. It looks as though he could keep it up for four or eight years.
I wonder. Carson for President and Trump for attack dog Vice-President?
(And I really like the "Hillary for Prison - 2016" signs and stickers.)
Charles I too have thought of a Carson Trump ticket.. Although I am not sure Trump could play second fiddle for very long ? In my old age I really am wanting someone elected that does not just pander to their monied supporters but actually puts the country and the citizens first. For the way things are going IMO we won't be getting a ribbon in the next foot race.
You're right about second fiddle, but if the Carson team were smart, they'd give Trump nearly free rein on some selected issues. Oh, I would love to hear Trump say "You're Fired!" as the head of a government reorganization theme. Carson could give the go ahead, Trump could get the publicity he needs, and the country would be better off.
Oh, speaking about doom porn. How does the election of Bernie Sanders strike you? I have relatives in Canada and my mother has dual citizenship.

I am bias and I know I am. I grew up fighting and being told to kill communist; all I ever heard was how bad they were.
Socialism and communism has not worked out in any country that I am familiar with. It works as a thought experiment but in reality the graft and corruption takes over and then the political enemies list gets published and poof there goes another 20 million souls to their maker. I was in the area during Pol Pots rain/screw up ?..I hope to never see/hear of such cruelty again.
Never happen in America, some would say ! Not as long as we are armed I don't think it can... Sanders being the little socialist he is will get the guns one way or the other probably by propaganda which is being used as I now type this. More to life than guns I know I know...however as an example; just like the BLM at the ranch in Arizona... if the supporters and oath keepers had not shown up the out come would have been totally different.. Just my opinion..
I do not want a nanny state that is why I live where I do. No property taxes here yet the schools function, no income taxes here yet we have a pretty big military.
I was stopped speeding a few months ago and when I asked the cop how fast did they have me going (20 over the speed limit@120kph).... when he told me, I rubbed the steering wheel and said, "wow this car really runs good, no"? He cracked up ! I still paid my fine of 6$ Six dollars but at no time did I feel in danger of a beat down or of being shot.
I enjoy my time in the states for I have many friends and there is always something going on.. My wife loves Ross dress for less and the roads and most of the drivers who are much more disciplined than some of the people who get behind an auto around here... It is always a shock to me how the price of stuff has increased even if we are gone for just a couple of years ...
Put it this way, we are both always happy to get back home. Lord knows I am..
