I was watching a video from Wall street about the downturn of stocks and the guy was saying most stocks were loosing, but Hormel seemed to be holding up well. He said they make canned meat and had good sales and future predictions because a lot of people were buying their canned meat to stock up their prepping pantries. If enough people believe something it alters our reality. Is this a sign that we may be having a food shortage or catastrophe?
Rickymouse, as dependant as society is on instant supply and demand, it wouldn't take much to create a food crisis.
We have power outages around here that last for 6-8 hours, and the stores have to close down. I have yet to see their back-up generators work!
As long as the disaster is 'contained', like Hurricane Katrina, the world keeps turning....but if something like a CME were to take down the power grid, it could get pretty messy in no time.
Everybody should be prepared with at least 1 month of provisions, IMO....and it has nothing to do with 'end of the world' scenarios. It's just good common sense.

When I was young, most people stocked food in their homes to survive a one month disaster. Very few adults did not have a complete pantry. Now, most people do not have enough food to last a week if something happened. Sure, you can survive on those twenty mac and cheese you have but do you have the milk and butter to make them? They would be pretty lousy tasting.
Most stores shut down during a power outage, most do not have generators, just battery backup for emergency lights and things. People get all messed up in the head when the power goes out, the change in the magnetic field in the city messes people up for a while. Some get a confused feeling, some get all riled up and break into stores looking for food or anything to take. The interaction with energy with our mind causes an acclimation to occur which keeps us normal and this is disrupted when we lose power.

atf1886, 2.5 hours!! I bookmarked it to watch when time allows... which may not be until next weekend, but It looks good, if you can call doom porn "good".
Well, if your one of these Mormons and believe in these stuff,,,,, it is just two weeks away!
Some Mormons stocking up amid fears that doomsday could come this month. Mixing a brew of biblical prophecies, the Hebrew calendar, a volatile economy, world politics, a reported near-death experience and astronomical occurrences, hordes of Utahns have become convinced that calamitous events are imminent — maybe by month's end — and are taking every precaution.
They are called "preppers" and are buying up food-storage kits, flashlights, blankets and tents. Some are even bracing to leave their homes — if need be. A lot of customers, he says, believe "this is the month it will all happen — with a 'blood moon' and a currency collapse and everything."
Here's how the doomsday scenario plays out: History, some preppers believe, is divided into seven-year periods — like the Hebrew notion of "shemitah" or Sabbath. In 2008, seven years after 9/11, the stock market crashed, a harbinger of a devastating recession. It's been seven years since then, and Wall Street has fluctuated wildly in recent weeks in the wake of China devaluing its currency.
Thus, they believe, starting Sept. 13, the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days, there will be another, even larger financial crisis, based on the United States' "wickedness." That would launch the "days of tribulation" — as described in the Bible.
They say Sept. 28 will see a full, red or "blood moon" and a major earthquake in or near Utah. Some anticipate an invasion by U.N. troops, technological disruptions and decline, chaos and hysteria.
Some of these speculations stem from Julie Rowe's books, "A Greater Tomorrow: My Journey Beyond the Veil" and "The Time Is Now."
Rowe, a Mormon mother of three, published the books in 2014 to detail a "near-death experience" in 2004, when the author says she visited the afterlife and was shown visions of the past and future.
Hahahahahahaha ........ ouch ........ ribs sore from laughing ......... Is good joke ......... me mormon ........ hahahahaha ......... noooooooooooo ......... they polygamous ........... already got 13 evil exes last thing need is more future evil exes .......... thats more terrifying than doomsday ..........
Well from their prediction can go back to my catnapping ........ bar hopping ......... and chasing cute bar maids ..........
So many terrible things happening in such a short amount of time all over the world! But, I'm like you... the thing that worries me the most is the sign from FEMA.
I still need more water, but my shelves and personal supplies are stocked and ready. I could still use a few more jugs of drinking water. I have empty jugs everywhere for water to use for bathing, just got to fill them up. I think I need to get on that!!!
