I remember the Bernstein Bears thread over at TOS. It became quite heated at times. Many times in my life some one has died and many people commented that they could have sworn they were already dead years earlier. Had it happen to myself as well.
Travel between alternative universes has always been a fun thought exercise for me. I wonder though, if we were zapped to a familiar universe (maybe consciousness only) with only slight changes to it, does our doppelganger get zapped here?
Or maybe it is our doppleganger who has already lived his/her life transferred to this universe to start over again with only a shred of deep rooted memory? That could explain the past-life regression hypothesis.
I remember the F-117A clearly from the early 80's and was surprised when I saw on TV it being acknowledged & shown for the first time later in the decade. I thought everybody already knew of that aircraft.
that feeling something small was off
It could also be a pruning of the tree and things nturally remerging
I remember the thread on Taured but nothing on Berenstein Bears...
bonhommearmonica, I just came across this thread. I'll have to look at it later when I get up. Dreamland is calling my name at the moment, and my eyelids refuse to remain open.
bonhommearmonica, The real question should be not be whether this exists or not, rather why some people remember these (if it is from a parallel universe). Also, you should ask yourself, what is/was the event that cause two (or more) time lines to merge/collide?
BCM
Way ahead on that..
My gut is that it is entrophy management of ma nature It is reabsorbing the lines and worlds.. small details not imortant
Or we could be seeing the spread out effects
Think the last episode of ST TNG A single Traveller caused the bang..
After noticing that the name of a series of children’s books isn’t spelled the way they remember, some Berenstain Bears readers are grappling with the notion that perhaps they’re living in parallel universe. Nudged along by a slew of tweets from rapper El-P, a years-old conspiracy theory reemerged this month claiming that “history has been retroactively changed” and the name has been switched from Berenstein to Berenstain. In an attempt to make sense of it all, the National Post’s Jake Edmiston spoke with Michael Berenstain, the son of the late authors Stan and Jan Berenstain, who continues to write the Berenstain Bears books in their stead.

If allowed, when we die, we will jump into an alternate reality not far from our own reality but since the reality is a little different because we branched off a little time back, our memories are a little different. It is like branches on a tree, the farther up the tree the more choices of paths. Well once in a while a branch will touch a different branch and we can jump our consciousness a long way up the change pathway. Remember though, it is our soul or spirit consciousness that is jumping, not the body. So you find yourself blended into another you, one that is way different. Now the passport could be a fluke misspelling that matched the other path or the path of someone directly related from the future overlaps.
I just made that up. Trying to make an explanation.
All I know is that there is way more going on in this reality I live in than what they let us know. Somehow the creatures they refer to as Angels must have something to do with moderating this reality and can do things to alter it. This I am pretty sure of. Are religions right? Probably partly, I am more interested in trying to figure out what these angels really are and what the heck this reality really is.

First off, I reside in the UK and ergo, my perspective and lifestyle are hardly dented by his advisors and his own decisions! But I'd be honoured to attempt to answer your question. (And sorry for the delay!)
Kings, Queens, Presidents and Prime Ministers... they come and go. But the kaleidoscope of departments that suggest, implore and advise, stay and the 22nd Amendment means very little to them. I've always frowned on the idea that evil resides within any collection of governing, people can be total as*holes on their own without any influence from sinister forces that enjoy the flames.
I don't know a lot about how and why many in the US dislike this current President and I'm sorry for failing you on this point. But if it means much, having Hillary Clinton and her hands-wandering husband back in the White House will be far worse!
Any negative trickle-down effects of their decision-making may seem very small to the man on the street, but if I was a believer in whisperings from the Devil, I'd suggest that these-two must have sore ears from a dark-one's advice. A leader is not a leader when he/she is placed in the position where the work to get him/her there should be repaid with favours and boons. Bill tainted the seat of office with his behavior and brought it low. Hillary has still some business to finish.
Obama...? Well in my humble opinion, he isn't a President. I think he came about in a time when a black President would be naively perceived as a revolutionary concept.
I'm not implying any race-related connection with leadership here, that's a stupid idea that the colour of a man's skin has any impact of governing a country. Remember... we did it with a woman with Mrs.Thatcher!
It was about 'geeing-up' the masses. It's about something new and something that can be aligned with hope. It's really about selling a concept that get's your party into power. The only strange part of all of this is it seems that Obama was was the biggest believer!
So he trod the podium, speaking from his script and cajoling the crowd that he was the second-coming of JFK. The polls indicated that the presentation of a young man with lots of energy and a nice smile, would get him the top-seat.
Then what...? The system-that-never-sleeps welcomed him into the hallowed halls of the White House and handed him a new script. An agenda that states how it really is. You tow the line in the NFL or you'll find yourself... well, that's for another day.
The man who goes his own way and leads with what he truly believes is a rare jewel and the establishment may initially applaud the idea, but at the end of the day, that establishment shuns change. There is a continuity that ranges from selling arms to your enemy all the way along to killing that snake's head in the name of world peace. If it means that you've created access to oilfields and the like, well... surely it's nothing more than a coincidence. (Insert incredulous-look here!)
In our Western societies, we look to garner happiness through wealth. It works for us and in my opinion, it works everywhere.
The average religion in our society is a belief structure that leans towards a peaceful, harmonious existence with others who may have other views, a plural society. And what happens when somebody with such a radical belief of a religion confronts you to debate it's merits against yours? Well, luckily... and I mean that sarcastically, luckily, these confrontations have always occurred with peoples from other lands and due to our ancestoral make-up, we attack with physical force.
Being a leader of people with alternate agendas means you're in at the deep-end and to make matters worse, you brought your family into it too. You can fight for your view and you can die for it or you can ride the train until it's time to disembark and let someone else be John Wayne.
My simple view is President Obama is probably a nice guy, but he's not a President. One may think I'm the one being neive, but it could be his own naivety that's seen as his inablilty to rein-in those who make the decisions for him and so, he comes-off as disingenuous.
One New Year’s Eve, President Obama goes into the Oval Office and signs the National Defense Authorization Act that explicitly authorizes the NDAA to be able to arrest of any American citizen in the country with no probable cause, no right to a jury trial, no habeas corpus. You can now be executed without appeal.
That's not what President's do and I'll wager it's not what Obama would do. He was told to do it.
As far as an eerie feeling, all I know is that somehow... maybe around the late-sixties or early seventies...? this world became 'different' It's nothing to do with technology and it's not connected to any personal changes in my life.
Maybe Satan found the lid of his prison and climbed out or maybe the aliens decided to stick it to us and make us sheep. Maybe a select group of people got into a position of power and began to change this valuable sphere for their own ends or maybe we all became less vigilant.
Frivilous topics such as the name of a childrens book may seem just that to most and after discussing lofty subjects as thrones of power, we may just smile and think it's all about mis-remembering. Personally, I think these anomalies are clues, but not intentional-ones in the way we usually mean and these remnants of another time are important. But I'm sure this world changed.

I remember this discussion from TOS a few years ago. I was fascinated (and relieved) to learn that others had experienced something that I thought was only me losing my mind!
I have remembered many celebrities and personal friends and family's death in detail that turned out to be false "memories". When someone tells me a person is still alive that I remember dying, I just look at them in silence with a strange look on my face. They probably wonder what's going through my mind. It leaves you perplexed, doesn't it?
I just wanted to comment on your doppleganger theory. I think you are confusing a doppelganger with something a little different. In my own words, a doppelganger is your evil twin. Or, if you are the evil one, it is the good twin. But, I could be wrong. I was wrong one other time... when I thought I was wrong.
According to Wikipedia:
In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger or doppelga(e)nger (/ˈdɒpᵊlˌɡɛŋə/ or /-ˌɡæŋə/; German: [ˈdɔpəlˌɡɛŋɐ] ( listen), literally "double-goer") is a look-alike or double of a living person, sometimes portrayed as a paranormal phenomenon, and in some traditions as a harbinger of bad luck. In other traditions and stories, they recognize your 'double-goer' as an evil twin.
The word doppelgänger is often used in a more general sense to describe any person who physically or behaviorally resembles another person.
However, there is some spiritual information that I have read in my research that says we have a portion of our spirit living several different lives at the same time in other places, or even in other parts of the universe.
It could be that when certain energy lines cross, or become activated in some way, these different parallel worlds collide in time space, and the person is transported to one of the other places their spirit is living. Or, they could be transported into different years in the same place where they live in their present life... but things are different, like in the story in the OP. Time is not linear, as scientists like to believe; there is no past, present, or future. Everything is happening at the same time in the NOW. This offers an explanation of how this "blending of time space" into parallel worlds occurs.
It's a pretty DEEP subject to research, but it's very interesting.
I don't have access to that information on our spirit being split any longer because it was on my old computer, but if I come across anything similar, I'll post it here.
Now my head hurts from trying to explain this with a tired, sleepy brain, so I'll leave it at this for now.

I once saw my 'double' across from me on a busy road, waiting at a bus-stop. We've all had someone say 'that person looks like you' or 'I saw a guy who was your double' but when the opportunity arises where you actually encounter that supposed 'twin' invariably we always see nothing that you connect him with yourself.
This guy was exactly like me and visa-versa, AND he knew it! There ws a brief pause in the traffic where we just stared at each other and I contemplated crossing over the road to speak to him and then a bus came. After looking at the approaching vehicle and then back at me, he made a decision and the bus blocked our view.
I cannot enforce enough on how much we were alike. The clothes were different and yet carried a similar opinion of style. His hair was just as mine was, the sideburns and even the stance as he waited. His facial features and the way he perceived his surroundings were identical and all I can say is that it was quite unerving... and yet, exciting at the same time.
He boarded the bus and sat on the far-side from where I gawped on the sidewalk. That was over thirty years-ago and I can still see him now in my mind's-eye.
Doppleganger or dare I say, Tulpa...? Letters on a postcard to....

theboyinadress, that's pretty awesome!! I wonder what the conversation would have been like if you two had spoken to one another? Somehow I feel like your spirit guides wouldn't allow that to happen so they gave him a little nudge to get on the bus.
I don't know how I would react if I saw another "me".
I've had people walk up to me and start a conversation like they knew me, but when they saw the confused expression on my face they asked if I was that woman that worked at ______? I said no, and they were amazed! They said I have a double that works at _____. This is in the same town where I live. It could just be a look-alike, but so far, I've never ran in to her.
theboyinadress, I have people who have quite often told me that we have met before, in some cases, the feeling is mutual but after comparing notes, we have never met. It's a small world and I have traveled a lot though and for some reason seem to make a impression where ever I go. I do try to blend in, dress like the locals, speak the language as best I can (Give me two weeks in Scotland and you'd think I'm from the hill country. As long as it's English I adopt local accents without even realizing it.) But for some reason, people remember me, and not in a bad way either. Which makes me wonder how sane they are at times.
It is a odd and common reoccurance and when my friends and I discuss such things, they usually exclaim, "Oh my God! There's more than one of you out there?!"
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

I -too, have wondered what our little chat would have been about and I also agree that there may have been forces at work that stopped me from dashing across the road and facing him.
Why did he get on the bus...? Well apart from that particular coach ran only every half-hour and was heading for another town, I'd rationally say it was due to time-constraints. Because that's rational.
But the damned mannerisms, the 'feel' that the person across the road was my double and even the look we gave each other, it was weird!
Men tend to behave a certain way when meeting other unknown males, but the look on his face that implied 'this is wrong because I feel it is... and so do you!' That's the strange situation we found ourselves in.
I sometimes imagine if I had travelled across to that side of the road and met him, would he have whispered 'Aw hell, we were right all along!'? Like two babes lost in the deep-dark woods, he may have reached for me and holding on for dear life, I may have whispered back... 'Don't be scared, there's two of us now' (cue eerie music, if you'd please!)
It is a odd and common reoccurance and when my friends and I discuss such things, they usually exclaim, "Oh my God! There's more than one of you out there?!"
Anyone looking in on this subject would probably shake their heads and put it down to memory-hiccups, simple facial-feature similarities and even the way one carries themselves in general.
Of course it would be abit of a stretch to accept that there can be two of you. And I mean two of YOU! When dealing with people-recognition, it's fair to say that within the many options of bodily shapes and features of a human being, we're pretty limited to what we look like and so, I can see how anyone would be hesitant to state that you have a 'twin' somewhere out there that's been generated by something paranormal.
But just like the discussions of multiverses, slips in the timeline and portals to somewhere else, I wouldn't take it off the table and I wouldn't just discard it over level-headedness. Not after I saw that guy!
People not only (and actually rarely) remember others by their looks alone. It is their tone of voice, mannerisms and odd sense of humor (in my case) that triggers memories in others.
Wonder what would have happened if you had actually met your "other self."
*POOF!* maybe? And BIAD would be another one of those weird memories that we all thought we knew of?
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
...And BIAD would be another one of those weird memories that we all thought we knew of?
Oh Gosh! Can you imagine if there were two of him...?!!! I mean, with the crazy comments, the headache-causing views when he's bending down to toil in his garden and what's more, the shed would be too small for the pair of 'em! Not unlike those exposures when he's crouching, it doesn't bear thinking about.
