Sarasota cop pays for stupid stunt with his Badge.

Doug, like Tremont, Bradenton's been trying to rehabilitate itself via art for years, too. Personally, I think it's too far gone at this point to just "fix" with a few festivals & so forth.
Downtown had a lot of charm last we were there, but it's surrounded by a crumbling ghetto. Even with the beautification they've been able to do & the cleaning up new businesses have done, it's not going to change it overnight. The whole town has to commit, not just a small neighborhood of it. The crime is so widespread that it's simply not a neighborhood thing anymore. FFS, the gangs have had shootouts in the mall parking lot on the south end of town for years. The mall is right across the street from the MCSO. RIGHT across the street. And they still gun each other down right in front of the LEOs. It'll take more than just a few events on the community calendar to remedy that.

Like I said, the migration from Sarasota to Bradenton of the gangs is going to take a long time to clean up. The county badly needs both more & better resources to do that. Otherwise, they'll be calling it FL's "Pretty Hell's Kitchen" sooner or later.

What complete and total IDIOT chose that location for the Republican party?! I think Philadelphia could have been more politically hostile, but certainly not by much.

Oh, that'll be a real hot time for the town.
