IIRC, there are some light/white backgrounds and dark text options available via the profile page then settings . . . on the left side of the page.

You can choose a theme.

I remember at TOS being annoyed with the dark grey background and light text at first. Mostly because I wasn't used to it and it jangled my sensibilities.

Then I read admin saying that research found that the dark background and light text was discovered to be physiologically easier on the eyes. So I gave it another go. I discovered the research was right. I feel much more rested in my eyes after hours of dark background and light text than the other way around.

In any case, you can have it your way here--by the route I suggested above.
