NASA Scientist: We're Running Out of Groundwater

If I may ask.. what are people looking to find in the way of documentation of the crisis facing our aquifers? The OP here may have a round-a-bout path to nowhere on backtracking the story, but what can I say? Some "reporters" couldn't report their dog taking a dump without screwing it up and making assumptions.

The problem itself is very very real and very disturbing. I don't hear much about the underground reserves under the Eastern US (and it hasn't been in prolonged drought all this time either, so nature still works half way decent somewhere) but the Ogallala aquifer is in deep crap, and its just one of a few. One of the largest, but still, one of multiple that ARE in crisis. Serious crisis....given the geologic timelines involved with replenishment of the resource.

Who cares about the shallow ones? Like Lake Mead or Lake Michigan? A low level today could be a flood stage a couple months from now, if weather shifts again in a new direction. Ancient ones...are a WHOLE different animal, and those are what recharge over geologic time scales. That is the water that, once taken, we'll never see refresh in our lifetime.

Altho..it is still *A LOT* of water, in even the Ogallala...

I'd personally call this topic and THAT example in particular, among the worst natural resource emergencies our nation faces. We're raping a resource that was there and largely as it was when we found it...back when Jesus Christ was pissing off Romans. It was there when the last Ice Age melted off and the little two legged animals came back out from caves and cover to see if living was safe again.

Depopulation agenda, running low on water, destruction of the ecosystem, etc... I feel that something major is going to be allowed to reduce the population of the world.

They would need to target the ones that make the chemicals and also those who crave buying new things they do not really need.

But there is one thing that I do agree with on the Climate change crowd. Humans are diverting water all over the place to benefit themselves at the expense of others. There is a price to be paid for doing such.
