Have You Ever Encountered An Evil Ghost?

Mystic, this;
is where I have begun to question. Are the rituals a placebo that work because we believe they will? There are as many ways to cause activity to cease, and each culture seems to have a different one. 

Are spells/rituals really necessary? Could just the power of our thoughts/ intentions do the trick without all the fanfare?

We may be more powerful mentally than we are aware of.

And you can bet that her Great-Grandmother was the one that made it surface to ease her fear of "the old lady" she saw.  
She is probably her spirit guide now, and was allowing your wife to see that she is with her. 
Either that, or, she has a strong bond with your wife from previous lifetimes and she was just checking up on her.

If you mean like the one a couple posts up? You have to click the video button to insert the URL. The editor does not recognize and handle a video URL without first using the video insert button. If it has ever worked another way, its been a bug and issue they need to address..not because they meant for it to be that way.

Also, the URL you want to use is the URL to PLAY the video, not the one to merely display it. The URL above, if put into a browser, loads the Youtube page...and nothing more. I have mine set to autoplay, so it plays for me, but by my own settings. It isn't because the URL told it to.

When I was around three years-old, I can remember sitting on a swing and
seeing my Great-Grandmother smiling from nearby. She said that she would
always 'watch out' for me and I believe she is still about.

When my family moved to another town (where I met my hubby!)... we lived
in a house on a incline and that was what always intrigued me.
When I stayed in the front bedroom, the door would open and it could be
said that this was due to the home being on a banked-road.
But when I slept in the rear bedroom, the door would open on it's own accord
there too, but swung open the opposite way!

It's her and she's out there keeping an eye on anyone -or thing that can knock
me from this swing we call life.

This post may be lengthy - or not. Only the spirits know, I reckon, until I get to the end of it.

I don't believe these existences are likely "ghosts", as the term is technically described, but don't think it matters enough to quibble over terminology. I don't think many of them ever were "human". Living among us as live humans. I believe "ghosts" exist, and I believe these existences exist - but are not technically "ghosts". I think it is two distinct groups of existences.

Anyhow, I've mentioned some of this before, in other threads, and some of it may be brand new. I've seen things, strange things, things calculated to frighten the average person. I believe that induction of fright is intentional, and that they somehow "feed" or draw energy from the emotions generated. Like planting a garden for veggies for physical folk.

When I was younger in the mountains, we lived in a "haunted" house. I saw something there twice - once as a "mist" that drifted into my room from back in the recesses of the attic, and once as a physical looking person (standing at the foot of my bed, staring at me)... but I was in a fever state during that last, so it may have just been a hallucination. I often could hear footsteps come out of the back of the attic, walk around my bed, down the stairs, check on the fire (I could hear the stove door opening, so I presumed that was the purpose), and then walk on into the kitchen, where it stopped. My Dear Old Dad thought I was nuts, and used to laugh about it... until one day he was there alone, and heard the walking, coming down the stairs, right after he woke up from a nap. He thought I had wandered back home (I used to leave and return at random, with no notice, for varying lengths of time - don't ask why, and I won't tell you a lie to cover) so he yelled for me to make sure it was me, and got no answer. He therefore armed himself and cleared the house, but there was no one there - he was still alone. The sound was that "real" and identifiable to him. It kinda shook him, but he stopped ragging on me about my "ghost".

In one of the houses I lived in in North Carolina, a guy blew his brains out all over the kitchen ceiling over a woman. Dumbass. Anyhow, he seemed to hang out there, and seemed a bit angry. We never got rid of the blood stains on the ceiling - you could paint over them, but they would just bleed back through. That one - or one masquerading as it - used to throw stuff at people. Books, hairbrushes, toys, whatever was handy to be thrown. I put an end to that one morning when I woke up with unexplained scratches on me. It looked like I'd run naked through a briar patch. I just said out loud "that kinda pisses me off - you do that again, and I'll END you with no more warning" - and I damned well meant it. Never had any more trouble out of it, although odd things would still happen occasionally - just never enough to piss me off.

A few years later, in another haunted house in NC, there were all sorts of going on. An old black woman and her husband had lived in it, and I guess died there. You could sometimes smell pork chops cooking when no one was in the kitchen, or had been in the kitchen - just a random thing. When the woman I was living with would get too spooked about stuff, she'd intentionally cook pork chops on the theory that was the ghost's favorite food, and everything would calm down for a bit. An offering of sorts, I suppose. One night I saw something that looked like a ball of white fuzz, about the size of a basket ball, roll down the hallway. Never figured out what it was, or why.

That was not the only "spook" there, however. One step daughter and her weird ass friends used Ouija boards to call in weird stuff, sort of make a portal. I threw some of it out of the house, but it got tiresome to eradicate these things that were scaring them, just to have them invited back in, so I stopped doing that. There was no point to it. All 3 of the women swore they'd seen a "tall figure" standing in their bedroom doors staring at them. None of it ever bothered me, but it would intentionally scare the crap out of them, which is why I think that some of them at least are some sort of "psychic vampire" - intentionally creating fear to draw energy of some sort from. Since it couldn't scare me, I guess I was just not worth bothering with. One night I was sitting up on the computer and saw a tall figure - I mean TALL, probably around 8 foot - walk past a doorway in the hallway. It was dressed in a black robe, hood up, with red trim. I saw it pretty clearly. I just said "Da-frakk outta MY house", and that was it. I never saw it again inside the house. Saw it once outside the house after that, pass by the kitchen window. It was like a wolf prowling around the house waiting to be let back in, I reckon.

Once, when I was working 12 hour shifts on 3rd shift, I got home and went upstairs, crawled into a bed up there to get some shuteye before I had to take off again, and I felt something get into the bed behind me and lay down next to me. I looked to see who it was, and there was no one there, so I said right out loud "stay on your side of the bed and we're ok - bother me, and it's on - and you'll lose. I'm in no mood for foolishness", and rolled back over to go to sleep. I felt the bed shake again as whatever it was got back up out of the bed and left.

We could never keep light bulbs in that house. It had 12 foot ceilings, and changing light bulbs was a problem, but they would just go POOF! and be gone with regularity, just like that. Some times they actually exploded, left glass shards everywhere and a problem pulling the cores out of the sockets to replace them.

Just before I left (who really wants to hang out with a gaggle of wanna be witches that ain't got sense enough not to invite stuff in that's gonna scare the bejesus out of them?) we started finding random, but OLD, teeth laying around in the floors. Right out in the middle of the floors, where you couldn't miss 'em. One night a bunch of runes got scratched into a hardwood floor - I never figured out what they said. Didn't really care enough to dig into it. The Ouja-board step daughter, who fancied herself a "Wiccan" but had not a clue about real witchery, had painted a bunch of disturbing stuff upstairs on the walls, which I believe were some sorts of "portals" for this stuff to enter through.

That particular girl I refer to as the "Barnes and Noble Witch" - she got all of her "information" on Wicca out of books written by unscrupulous and ignorant folk for a fast buck - books that would make that dumbass Gerald Gardner look like some kinda Rhodes Scholar.

I left them to it - life is too short.

I don't generally employ rituals of any sort - I just give the command to leave, and they go. On the other hand, I don't abuse that. I don't do it unless they are becoming a royal pain in the ass, because I figure even spooks gotta have some place to be. If they don't bother me, I don't bother them. The most "ritualistic" I've ever gone was sage smudging in a particularly stubborn case. It left. When I say "go". I mean it, and will go as far as I need to to make that happen. Better to leave on good terms than to hang out for a whomping.

Now recently, in this house, stuff happens. I hear walking in the middle of the night. One night I heard skittering, tiny feet, like a small dog prancing around in this room. Grace has seen, and felt, "something" in the bedroom, sitting down on the bed. I feel things touch me some times. The TVs both in my bedroom and in the living room, sometimes turn themselves on, and randomly run through channels. One night I was prowling through the house, pitch black, heading for bed, and this computer turned itself on, which gave me enough light to not run into something... I thought that was nice of them. Lately, I've been finding dimes everywhere, for some odd reason. Not pennies, but dimes. I dunno why. I have no idea who it is, or what they're trying to say. Not just in the house - I even find them just laying around when I go out to town. That started 3 or 4 weeks before I got hired for this new job I start next month. I dunno if that's connected or not. I just don't know... but I like finding dimes instead of pennies! Whatever, or whoever, is here, they don't bother me, so I don't bother them. Even Spooks gotta have a place to be!

Some times, in the wee hours of the night, I go out on the porch for air, and often hear singing and drumming off in the mountains. No idea what or who that is, either, but 3 AM seems a strange time for a night party, summer or winter, out in the wilds.

"Evil ghosts"? Both "Evil" and "ghost" may be in the eye of the beholder.
