Okay, I have done everything as listed in the OP, and my computer seems to run much faster!
Question: Will these programs continue to work on their own, or do I have to run them myself?
I have a "paid version" virus program from Avast. Is it necessary to run it? It does slow things down so much while updating and checking out the sites I go to, I'd love to be able to get rid of it.
It is good information, unfortunately it doesn't take you to the thread on TOS if you click the attribution link. It goes to a WebMD page: WebMD Maybe if you copy and paste the link from a new blank tab?
Take care, Cindi
Copy and paste the URL into the address bar, that is unless you would like to read about products that can help with hemorrhoids.
I remember doing this back on TOS sometime back, though maybe it was another thread, but this looks familiar.
I didn't notice any difference in performance, nor did they remove anything.
I really want to learn the registry and start up programs, so I can get rid of the ones I don't need. I used to try to self teach, then I started going to my buds who supposedly knew what they were doing and every freaking time I had to throw in the reboot disc and start all over and sit for a day as updates downloaded. GRRRR!
I can build a computer and download the programs to run it, but that's all user level stuff. I want to be able to understand whats going on in it's brains. It may just be one of those things that I'll only have a faint idea of and never get past that. *Sigh*
But I too saved it onto a Word.doc for a later look see. Try, try, try again...
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

I tried but no.
Maybe it doesn't belong here?
DAMN! Just wanted to share a little...oh well.

You guys can thank SO and his childish pranks for that
Any link FROM A -T -S website now gets redirected to the Web MD hemorrhoid page
Also, on that note, anyone trying to send a Hernando's link via u2u to a member first off, SO has it redirected to their homepage, not ours And if you get caught, instant ban for sure (and yes, they do check the u2u)
On topic tho, thanks for the info.... will just copy/paste the url link
ETA: got it 'bookmarked'...thanks

Yeah, the oh so mature intellect that runs TOS thought it would be cute to direct anyone using TOS material as basis for a story at HH to be redirected to..well..where it links to.
Bill (S.O.) did that with a referrer redirect ..and I have to admit, it's one of the least mature and most unprofessional things I've seen. I mean...really? Someone using the TOS site as an authoritative source of background for a story ...gets treatment like that?
Ahh well.... Different strokes for different folks. (rolls eyes)
