This isnt personally towards you Wrabbit.
When I have had discussions in the past with other parents on why I do not tell my kids about Santa (do not do ANY other holiday), they always seem to think that there is nothing else, as if its Santa or nothing, this is indeed false.
As far as a creative, and healthy thoughts and imaginations, what if we told our kids about all the things THEY can do, that a man once a year doesnt have to bring you stuff (mostly stuff that you ask for cannot be provided, how do parents not think that through, let the parents have to explain how that screws with a kids brain, good all year and still cant get what they want), instead of explaining that they can do and provide, get them a small garden for x-mas, and show them that they can do anything, for the holidays allow them to take all the things that they dont want or need, and give to kids that dont get squat.
Show them that giving is just as good as receiving, I have spent many a year with my youngest daughters, standing in line at x-mas, and them seeing the lights and presents under the trees, and they also see kids acting out, being disrespectful, people arguing and fighting over gifts (this has happened in our old town more than once right in the stores)they dont see x-mas, they know that their parents bust their butts for them, and that sometimes we cannot provide what they want, but we do everything we can for them, and no "holiday" can or will replace the love, encouragement, safety, and family that we can give.
You could not possibly imagine the look on my 10 yr olds face when she gives to others, when she sees her mini garden sprouting, when she gets hugs and love for being original, for being herself.
This is the form of love and imagination, that I chose to show my daughters, but hey, thats just me <3
And to stick to the thread, I also home school for this exact same reason.
