Let me play "devil's advocate" for a moment.

A while back I had an accidental glimpse behind the scenes of Another Place.

A small group of Mods had a brief discussion about whether a particular political thread should be moved.

Did it belong in Rant? Was it more "Social Issues"? Was it even heading in the direction of "Religion"?

Finally someone wrote, "Well, that's four votes for Rant. Who can move it?"

I know about all this, because someone slipped up and moved the discussion thread itself into Rant instead of the thread they were talking about.

It was there long enough for me to skim down it.

My point is that there was no exaltation or gloating or any kind of malice in what was accidentally revealed here.

The remarks were brief, calm, almost clinical.

Accepting that both kinds of behaviour exist, the question is which is the rule, which is the exception.

We don't know.
