Speaking of the Justice Department (its carrying a lot of wire service space today, for some reason), it seems we may have a glimpse at our next Attorney General. She's said to be on the short list anyway.
She is a 55yr old Harvard alum, but I won't hold that against her. :)
She is also a working prosecutor, unlike the political toad we have serving the post right now. (ANYTHING to have at least a couple people in this Government working in positions they have experience for!)

She worked the Louima case. THAT means something to me. Not only because it was a horrible case, but because there is some personal connection by having a friendship with someone else that worked the same case. That she came out of it WITHOUT being widely known, either good or bad, tells me a lot. To read her other case histories, it says even more.
She has a habit of catching or being in very very high profile cases, while leaving a small footprint for the media. So...she isn't the consummate butt kissing politician. She also isn't a media whore. The profession she is a part of has FAR too many of both, already.
All in all, and from the little I've learned thus far? I think Obama may be about to make a terrible mistake!! He may actually appoint someone both well qualified AND capable of doing the job. (He must be ill... No other explanation.)
Loretta Lynch rarely holds news conferences, does interviews or gives speeches in her current job as U.S. attorney in Brooklyn. But the lack of a paper trail on Lynch hasn't kept her from emerging in recent weeks as one of only a handful of people still under consideration by the White House to replace the outgoing Eric Holder as attorney general.

Lynch, who grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, began her career as a federal prosecutor in 1990. While a chief assistant U.S. attorney, she was on the trial team in one of the most sensational police brutality cases in city history, the broomstick torture of Haitian immigrant Abner Louima in a precinct bathroom.
She originally served as U.S. attorney in Brooklyn from 1999 to 2001 before entering private practice. She returned to the position in 2010 and was appointed to the Attorney General's Advisory Committee, a position that required her to spend more time in Washington and drew her closer to Holder.
