I just saw this ad for these Disney dolls. Just wanted to share and see if you all think TPB are conditioning children for the arrival of ETs? They certainly look like hybrids to me. Notice the large eyes! They look like "gray" eyes.
Over the last few years there are more and more shows on t.v. about aliens, even cartoons; battle war games in the cosmos, etc. It seems to be leading to "something".
I think Disney is probably trying to tap into the love of all things anime (and failing at it rather miserably to be honest) as Japanese anime characters tend to have ridiculously large eyes like this one:
Will say though that, considering the bodies of aliens--at least according to Grey lore, are purportedly big eyed, disproportionate head and rather spindly body, I think Japan, if they were conditioning for hybrids, beat the US to the punch on that one come to think of it, lol.
It is weird though really but I think there is a reason why big eyed small faced humans are rather popular. If I remember correctly, studies were done in trying to figure out why infants were so appealing to most and what that study led to was those big baby eyes in those wee faces. In a way, it's a remark on the use of psychology in product development and marketing.

It was just this picture on the side of a face book page advertising this. It brought the question to my mind that I posted.
Yes, I think that was what the ad was about.
Why are you apologizing? I think it's great that you're questioning why the doll doesn't even look human because she doesn't. There's been all sorts of talk in the past about Barbie's dimensions but the more recent stuff really does look to be turning further and further way as being recognizably human. They do look like some sort of hybrid.

whitealice, Oh, I'm not apologizing for questioning why they look that way; I'm apologizing for not posting a link... because there wasn't one, just the picture.
I remember when the first 'big-eyed' dolls came out in the early 70's; they were hotter than Cabbage patch dolls!
It wasn't long before just about every home had framed pictures and huge posters of the big-eyed faces on their walls, and several dolls in every toy box-except my house. I always find the craze somewhat creepy.... :)
(shrug) Disney doesn't change as much as the people running the place do. The Graphics program I started in at college interns at Disneyworld every year. Some do, anyway....and it just reminded me? The movies of today at Disney are from people who were likely students just a matter of years ago. So everything shifts as new generations come in.
Of course, I'd give 'em a big shiny nickle if they could make new movies and new things with new people...instead of retread and define what we all grew up with ...but the big eyed alien looking things are the newer generations idea of attractive I guess.
They're ugly looking aliens things to me....but then, I grew up on old Disney and characters that did look human most of the time. Not some weird hybrid cross with ..god knows what.

@wrabbit2000,
Mix in some old farts, too. An old schoolmate of mine is an artist who has worked for Disney on a number of their film projects. I'd guess it's a mixture of young and old at Disney with the young being assigned smaller jobs and the older the bigger things.
Hee hee, I laughed at the "some weird hybrid cross with...god knows what". The dolls are pretty freaky looking. I bought some of the prior versions for my daughter and they weren't so alien looking. Turned out she liked dinosaurs and Godzilla better so into a box in the closet they went. We just were looking at those ones the other day and she commented on how strange even those ones looked, lol.
