I really felt sorry for some of the people who were behaving just as anyone would, walking along, having a great time, then a semi decides to take up residence in their back pocket.
On the other hand, some of the people were so thoughtless, careless, oblivious to the real world, that I found myself wishing that they got some hospital time to ponder the error of their ways.
Great film to show in Driver's Ed classes. I may postpone getting a motorcycle for a while (even after I can afford one).

I still ride but I know if and when I go down it will probably be the last time for such stuff. To old to heal properly.. Over here going someplace by car in a city can take (pick a number ?) and hour or more can be done on a motorcycle in about 17 minutes..
I don't ride as much as I used to but still take the golf clubs on the bike occasionally.. It has been kinda cool low to mid 80s which is perfect motorcycle weather around here.. Go to Youtube and look at some of the traffic in Asian cities.. A guy has to be stupid to ride around here but ....
the title says only in Vietnam which is incorrect.. Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and all of S.E. Asia you will see the same thing:
As in any country some of the young bucks running super fast because they believe they are invincible make for some rather incredible crashes..
I watched that first, 13 second video. They look like ants swarming. At least they're not going too quickly.
That's not a problem in the third video. All right, I'll think twice about getting back on a bike. I'm sure some of those accidents resulted in death. I think I might have seen my accident in there (No, it wasn't one of the fatalities.)
But that second video was the most thought provoking. It seemed to me that we were looking at people who were determined to "make it," to turn a tiny amount of capital into a business which could support them and their families. They seem to be a people driven to succeed by stretching the limits of what we think possible. Could it be that the American Dream finally conquered the people of Viet Nam?

Thanks for the videos.
You are welcome... Motorcycles and scooters are used simply because that is all they can afford in many cases; roads are narrow and the traffic is terrible.. However there is a great deal of mayhem which comes along with freedom and people kinda doing what they want to do.. When you pull out into traffic you do have to look both ways for many times there will be a motorcycle (or a car) on the shoulder going the wrong way for your lane of traffic... Turn arounds or "U" turn cross overs are not plentiful and people who watch every ounce of gasoline they use, will always take the shortest distance between two points..
I just wish they would learn how to square their corners off instead of eating both lanes for thru traffic until they can move.. Also with the roads being narrow and no parking spaces... they just stop (where ever) and go do their shopping. Two lanes becomes one rather quickly or no lane except for the bikes. Like I said a motorcycle is the best way to travel in a town.....if you are feeling lucky... hahhaha
