This certainly makes me wonder what it is they are looking for. The pyramids have been under research for many decades, and the technology they are going to use is nothing new. Why now? This is the short list of things that have been researched there are volumes of test research that have been done.
In the late 1960s, the 'Joint Pyramid Project' investigated Khafre's pyramid looking for hidden rooms
in the 1970s Stanford Research International (SRI) (along with Edgar Cayce's Association for Research and Enlightenment) examined both Khufu and Khafre's pyramids, as well as the Sphinx
In 1986 a French duo performed a microgravimeter survey (as well as doing some old-fashioned drilling) in the Great Pyramid
In 1987 a Japanese team used ground-penetrating radar (GPR) equipment in the Great Pyramid and around the Sphinx
In 1991 French engineer Jean Kerisel performed another scan of the Great Pyramid using GPR and microgravimetry
In 1992 German engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink famously sent a robot up the 'air shafts', discovering what seemed to be a tiny 'secret door' at the end, possibly hinting at a secret chamber beyond. Other teams have continued to follow-up on this work in the decades since
In the late 1990s the ARE-connected Schor Foundation scanned around the Great Sphinx, as well as doing some further investigation inside the Great Pyramid, and exploration of the 'water shafts' beneath Khafre's causeway
More recently French architect Jean-Pierre Houdin put forward a theory about secret chambers in the Great Pyramid based on the layout of supporting stones in the King's Chamber
Hidden chambers or other secrets.. I guess it's my tin hat that still makes me wonder why right now they pursue the concept of hidden secrets in the pyramids. This tells me there is a faction or organization behind the scenes looking for something. Perhaps maybe a little of the ancient technology provided by Mr. ET. as to their construction and the real purpose of their construction. Maybe they will find proof that this technology was used as a great weapon focusing energy through the crystal lattice of the stones used in their construction. Maybe it's something as simple as trying to find out how they were built, that's just a ton of money to find that out.
Who would have ever thought they could measure cosmic rays falling from space with special sensors inside the pyramid, and yet I can't get cell reception at the supermarket.
It is Joesph P. Farrell that created the concept of The Great Pyramid as a weapon and wrote a very compelling book called "The Giza Death Star" and well worth the read. He applied physics to the pyramid as a energy weapon with the ability to focus energy much the same way as Tesla was able to use the earths energy. One the interesting aspects of Dr. Farrell's point is a chamber in the great pyramid is mathematically the same ratios as a radar horn used in today's microwave receivers just in reverse. When I read this I immediately took a drive to a friend working for at the time Northrup Grumman with a degree in this technology and had him look at the numbers and design. He was surprised to say the least. It is indeed factual information. Personally I don't feel this could be an accident.

"Scientists plan to uncover the secrets of the ancient pyramids in Egypt with new scanning technology, the country’s antiquities minister said Sunday at a news conference.
The study, known as Scan Pyramids, will employ cosmic rays and thermal imaging to look at the insides of four pyramids in Egypt, which are more than 4,500 years old. Such techniques have been used by scientists to look inside ancient pyramids in Mexico and Belize."

"The Bent Pyramid at Dahshur will be the first target, followed by the Red Pyramid and then the two grand Giza pyramids of Cheops and Chephren, the Associated Press reported. The Bent Pyramid, which is located it Dahshur some 25 miles south of Cairo and is suspected of containing at least two chambers, is 344 feet high and was built by the Pharaoh Sneferu.
Mamdouh Eldamaty, the country’s minister of antiquities, told Ahram Online that the Bent Pyramid is first thanks to “its distinguished and unique architectural design and because it is the first attempt at pyramid construction that has not been carefully studied.”
The technique will be implemented by architects and scientists from Egypt, France, Canada and Japan, who will use modern infrared technology and other advanced detectors, Agence France-Press reported.
"This special group will study these pyramids to see whether there are still any hidden chambers or other secrets" inside, Eldamaty said. "These engineers and architects will conduct the survey using nondestructive technology that will not harm the pyramids.”
