Is not exactly that, and corporations already have the right to sue countries, but not because sales themselves are bad. What I belive you are referring to is the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) laws where a corporation can sue a country if they break a contract or change the laws in their country which effects the original contract. This is not an ability to sue a country just because its people are not buying the product, this is much more than that and involves the country breaking contract or changing its laws which would effect the original agreement.

I have not fully researched it the proposals made in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, but I cannot see them creating additional intellectual copyrights that are not all ready in place. The whole topic of intellectual copyright is a huge topic in and of itself, but I would be concerned if they are creating more stringent laws than the ones currently in place internationally.

Right now, most things like cosplay and fan art which are soley for personal entertainment, rather than profit, usually falls under the creative commons license UNLESS the original artist has a different (and specific) copyright on their artwork. In other words, an artist does not have to allow their work to fall under the CC license, it is the choice of the original artist how they copyright their work and whether or not they will allow their work to be used in fan art or cosplay

I will look into that issue another time, however, to see if any changes to the copyright laws are being proposed in the deal. I have not had time yet.



Medication costs will only rise if a generic equivalent is presently being sold on a medication that is under the time-frame allowed for monopoly. Again as I stated before, a time period for a pharmaceutical company to have exclusivity on a drug which allows them to be able to recoup their costs of research and development and testing of a drug. If we take away a companies ability to recoup these costs, then we make it impossible for a company to research and find new life saving medications.

There must be enough time allotted for this, or pharmaceutical companies would have no reason to invest the billions of dollars often required to find new drugs. Having that time be only a few years, (5 or 8 we don't yet know) in order to do this is, in my opinion, a more than reasonable time frame.

What these pharmaceutical companies do in the united states, is to provide these same medications for free to those who need the drug but cannot afford it. I expect this same thing will be in place in other countries, provided this is written into the TPP agreement just as it is written into the United States Laws here.

But, in order to know for sure we would have to see the agreement, and this is why I am responding to your first point here.



NOTHING should be secret. I personally do not agree with secret meetings and secret deals behind closed doors where the people who are effected by the deals are kept in the dark yet the ones who such deals effect. I disagree with that 100%.

I don't like Obama, and don't see any good coming out of anything he does, so I am wary of this on that basis alone. Obama has been nothing but bad news since the beginning of his first term, and I don't see it getting any better.

I would personally like to know what all is entailed in this, and preferably before countries sign up to it!
