This is one of those "crazy" things I mentioned about me in an earlier post: check for an underground stream of water under your bedroom. Underground, running water somehow electromagnetically screws with electrical fields in the body (same principle as why the old witch women say that a ghost can't cross running water - it screws with their energy fields), and can produce the pain symptoms you are describing. I've run into that twice in life, and right now is one of them - the room I sleep in has water flowing under it, which crops out as a "spring" in the lower end of the yard, below the house on the hillside. makes me all kinds of achy, to the point that if I sleep there more than about 6 hours at a stretch, I hurt bad enough to nearly not be able to get out of bed, mostly along my spine and in my legs from knee to toes. Once I've been up for a bit, and shaken the kinks out, I'm good to go.

I think the area you live in is probably a lot like the one I grew up in - mostly limestone, what they call "karst". that's a recipe for underground running water, as it filters through the limestone and dissolves it, forming caves, sinkholes... and underground streams.

The remedy for it, if it's not too deep, is a "French Drain" to re-direct it away from the house, at least away from the part you sleep in.

I won't say I have ever had the need to do this but it has been recommended to me to place a glass of water at every door and a line of salt across it's opening. Then smudge with sage and carry on.

Don't forget to salt the windows - you've got to get every opening into the house. I used to know an old witch that would go out and get 50 pound bags of salt, rock salt like you use to melt snow, and salt a ring entirely around her house occasionally, to make sure she got all the entrances. I also knew an old Cherokee medicine man who used tobacco for the same thing, prior to a sage smudge. he'd lace the perimeter of the entire area he wanted to affect with sacred tobacco (nicotiana rustica, not "smoking" tobacco, which is nicotiana tabacum), by sprinkling it inside, along all of the walls.

I have, and quite often! The negativity from a next door neighbor ( over a large, mean aggressive dog they refused to control) was palpable, and I found salting the permiter DID help. Placebo? Doesn't matter; it works for me! :haha:

I used to smudge the entire house with sage, followed by sweetgrass. I have a friend that will come and do it for me now, if I feel it's needed.

Being a very practical person, my husband didn't think there was much validity in all the hocus-pocus, until he had his 'aura' cleansed for the first time. It's hard to attribute the results to a placebo effect in someone who has no belief or expectations in such things, but gets dramatic results anyway.

You are right I forgot about the windows, and I just don't like the smell of burning white sage. Call it what you will, placebo, BS, woo woo, it makes no difference if it works. There was once a person in my life that insisted I do these things specially when she was around. I even had a special feather for smoke distribution, and the sage burned in a Abalone shell. I have to say I have seen some weird things as well. I was once in a car wash at the end of a tunnel on a ladder at about 1:00 am in the morning when my helper on the floor looks up and says did you hear that? I said yeah what is it? The sound was coming from the beginning of the tunnel we both looked down to see everything, hoses, water guns, fittings, buckets etc. all start flying around like someone was throwing them everywhere. It was wild, he says to me "Dude we have to get out of here!" I laughed and yelled for it to leave called my friend and then all was well. She did her woo woo from afar and back to work.

Well now, this brings up something I've never considered.

As a matter of fact, there ARE underground springs all over the place here. We have a natural spring that keeps the ground soaked on the hill behind our house, so there could be a stream under my bed. I'll have to get my friend to bring her dowsing rods over and see if she picks anything up.
